Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

If there is, I'd love to know too! It's always the way it is for me - I find a "popular" artist I really like and their recordings are so compressed it just about makes me cry when I listen to them. Evanescence, Muse, Mylène Farmer, and I'm sure there are others. I guess that's one reason I've been gravitating towards ambient electronic.
You know, guys - as a lover of the music of both Evanescence and Muse, I always figured that the "wall of sound" compression algo they chose was a deliberate artistic choice... :)

Works fine on our Susvara, but I don't listen at ear-bleeding levels.

I'd do this and end all questions about drive capability. Personally.

It means probably today or tomorrow. There are a ton on the burn rack.
Hello Jason. I know you like your Rag 2…what do you think of MJ3 vs Rag2 as it relates to headphones?

Thank you

Personal opinions (maybe worthless)

Both too big for a desk
Ragnarok 2 wins if any speakers are involved
Mjolnir 3 sharper, more precise, more dynamic
Ragnarok 2 warmer, mellower, more relaxed

Again, this is personal opinion. Probably BS.

@Jason Stoddard What would the Headphone output of the Kara be most comparable to? Is it far off to call this Magni stuffed into a Freya-S?
It's closer to the Syn topology, but with huge rails and a ton of protection wrapped around it, so overall power capability is lower into low-impedance loads, but higher into 300 and 600 ohms.

Hi Jason,

With a headphone like LCD3 (I love its warmth, bass, and musical nature) …. would you recommend:

Yggy OG/A2 and Rag 2

Or

Gumby A1 (unison) with MJ3 (need 230V)

I currently have Gumby A1 (unison) with Rag 2 and really enjoy it.

But I have previously heard Yggy MIL with Rag 2, and I much preferred it vs my own rig. I can only imagine how an Yggy OG/A2 sounds.

The bass depth and impact, detail, and overall voicing was far improved.
I don’t use Rag 2 with speakers at all.

Cheers

I'd like to think that, but then I'd ask "WHY???"

Edit - Answer to my own question: Because their ears are so trashed that they cannot hear the difference???

Edit to the Edit - I see MJ3 production has slipped out to 5-7 days. I should've pulled the trigger this morning!!

Edit to the Edit to the Edit - The most likely explanation is that the "demographic of interest" doesn't know the difference so why invest the effort to make it sound good. And, yes, WE (those of us who read this forum) are NOT within the "demographic of interest".
