I jumped into the rabbit hole when Logitech discontinued Squeezebox and the Transporter became Unobtainable.

It is actually a pretty good rabbit hole to jump into. ROI was much better than the Thermionic Valve rabbit hole
Don’t feed the bear, doc. Then again, he was already a lost cause. You and I though, we took that same left turn and never looked back. Wait, you’re egging me on, too, with your talk of that Pi2AES thingamajig. I see what you’re doing there!

TY!

On my 15th disc tonight - this thing sounds incredible, and a smooth experience so far; switching from my MacBook Pro - to MoFi - back and forth, comparing. I think I've reached an ultimate desk headphone rig for its size...

The gold disc version of The Wall by Pink Floyd is tear-inducing 🥹

nice. :gs1000smile:

@scotdouglas what are the Urd and Bifrost combo replacing?

public libraries often have CD's in "absolutely pristine" (NOT!!!) condition that one can use to test the robustness of their CD players and transports.

A while back I had tried a CXC V2 vs my old sony NS500V (coax s/pdif into BFM OG), while the CXC V2 offered improved audio quality (imaging & details) it also skipped on some discs that ran fine on the NS500V. :slight_frown:

Also tried a sony X800M2 (tempted by holiday black friday pricing, back when "black friday" was only once a year) about 3 yrs ago, but it didn't sound any better than the old NS500V. (again both via coaxial s/pdif into BFM OG)
The Urd replaces and old Sony 400 disc SACD / DVD box and the Bifrost takes up residence above a Modius E. Waiting on more balanced cables to compare DACs. :)

No need to go to the library for me, my kids saw to that when they were younger 🤣🤣

Luckily, none of the more valued ones were harmed
