Yep, a permanent exhibit in the Museum of Modern Art, still a great chair.🤪

Certainly better than this :). Yup a Herman Miller Marshmallow Sofa -- Something a cat could fall thru or have fun with.

Her Majesty looks a bit perturbed. Did you fail to get her permission before taking the photo?
No... but she always looks grumpy

Can I ask what remote you use? I experimented with a universal with my Freya, but it didn't work well.
I haven't bought a remote to work with Urd yet, but here's what I've been using with Freya & Yggy.
Volume buttons and mute for Freya, Channel +/- to change inputs on Yggy. Power button currently unused.
Very basic but works nicely. Helps that I've got an IR repeater setup as my gear lives behind smoked glass. FWIW, stock Urd remote works through the glass just fine, just have to aim it properly.

Just got my Urd.

I love it. I fired up one of my favorite CDs - one that beats other CD players to death.

Oh, I need some Shirley Bassey discs. I used to watch her TV specials and man! what a voice.

Which disc would you recommend?

I jumped into the rabbit hole when Logitech discontinued Squeezebox and the Transporter became Unobtainable.

It is actually a pretty good rabbit hole to jump into. ROI was much better than the Thermionic Valve rabbit hole
This. It took a good chunk of a couple of weekends, but since getting a "satellite setup" with mpd running on alpine linux, on an rpi4 with a linear power supply, this is hands down the best I've heard a pi sound, and I've tinkered with quite a few distros. It may even beat my previous server that was built with a nice gaming motherboard. Sounds better than moode to me, certainly better than volumio. Better than the upnp streamer built into my DAC for sure.

My library is automatically updated when I drop files onto the NFS share, and apparently it's possible to do qobuz integration but I haven't tried that yet. More of a files guy 🙂 Has been absolutely rock solid and I'm fairly happy with the android remote app I paid a few bucks for. No subscription fees for me, no sir.

Jason talking Schiit Urd and Syn stuff with Darko, audio podcast if anyone has time to kill....... :)

About 20 minutes in they touch on remasters, whether or not streaming services keep with the most recent remasters, and if that becomes an issue - and this issue right here is my BIGGEST issue with streaming services. If you end up finding a mastering you like and the overall scheme changes to a newer/older/different master, or the artist gets in a fight with the service, or just the general splintering of services you lose access and need to go find it again.

</ snip, snip />

The scratches made no difference to the transport!

There's so much to update / redo: I also received a Bifrost today so I'm a bit sonically overwhelmed.
nice. :gs1000smile:

@scotdouglas what are the Urd and Bifrost combo replacing?

public libraries often have CD's in "absolutely pristine" (NOT!!!) condition that one can use to test the robustness of their CD players and transports.

A while back I had tried a CXC V2 vs my old sony NS500V (coax s/pdif into BFM OG), while the CXC V2 offered improved audio quality (imaging & details) it also skipped on some discs that ran fine on the NS500V. :slight_frown:

Also tried a sony X800M2 (tempted by holiday black friday pricing, back when "black friday" was only once a year) about 3 yrs ago, but it didn't sound any better than the old NS500V. (again both via coaxial s/pdif into BFM OG)

Audiolab 6000CDT is excellent in tracking ‘problem’ CDs and in detail retrieval.

Thanks, was hoping for a universal remote that I could use to replace all my Schiit remotes, but I haven't found a good one yet.
