Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Yeah, one of my big regrets is that I lived <1mi from Legacy when they were in Macungie and no one told me!
Their towers are unbelievable, theirs subwoofers are beautiful, and their Calibre is the stuff of dreams (for me!).

A shame, as I've read that Bill would often offer personal tours for visitors.

The AR90s were the AR9s 'little brothers'. The 85lb each 90s were slightly shorter, and had 2 10" side firing woofers, as apposed to the 9s 12" dual woofers. Both had the same midrange drivers and tweeters. Both great speakers.

Along with my 90s, I have the 58S model, AR92s, AR5s, AR18s, and AR-1MS speakers. Oh, speakers from Infinity, Monsoon, Martin Logan, and NHT as well. So, Schiit isn't the only gear that I collect...!

Those must have been when AR was just a Jensen label. The real AR speakers are the 2a, 3a, 4a, 6, LST, MST. Anything just past Teledyne is something else.

I'm waiting for someone to mention Yacht Rock again, so that I can post this.....

No, Teledyne era. The 90s were available from 1979 to 1982. They were part of the 3rd AR Series, the Vertical Series, which also included the 9s, 91s, 92s, 93s, and 94s. At the time, I worked at Teledyne Avionics, and I purchased my 90s direct from the factory, through their employee appreciation program.

Are those still acoustic suspension speakers or passive cone balanced woofers?

Still acoustic suspension. Dual opposed 10" woofers, a sealed 8" lower midrange, an 1.5" upper dome midrange, and finally, a 0.75" dome tweeter. Crossover frequencies are 200/1200/7000. Frequency response is 32Hz to 25K.

I personally refoamed all the cones, and recapped the crossovers with Mundorf EVO Oil capacitors. Much better than the original NPE's. My only regret is I didn't mod them for biamping.

Assume you used only the finest boutique foam.

Seems kinda superfluous, somehow...
As prior posters have said: That is a very Kind set-up.

And, um, I would love to hear your impressions of the URD, if you would care to share. :smile_cat:
