Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

…. hmm …. are you sure?
My high school band director had a chevette. As a joke some of the guys picked it up and rotated it 90 degrees in his parking spot and promptly parked him in. Another time they picked it up and placed it in the grass in front of the spots.

Fun stuff from the mid 80s!
(Remember kids, no cell phones, tablets or home computers. Gaming console was an Atari on a very small low def TV. If you had a 27" TV you were lucky and maybe you had cable. AND no internet)

Here's an idea for what Syn might be that is so good, that I'll be a bit disappointed if it's something else. It will skewer sacred cows. It plays well on current maenings of the Scandinavian words syn (Swedish) and syns (Norwegian). It makes good use of existing Schiit IP and my guesstimates say that the price point makes sense too!

A blind listening facilitator.

Three in one out, or use it in reverse, or maybe use it in conjunction with an accessory slave switchbox that can be put on the other side of the devices that you're switching between.

Microprocessor controlled relay switched attenuators for high precision level matching, possibly automatic.

You can listen sighted, switch between 1 and 2 and 3. Then press a button and these get randomly assigned to A and B and C. Then press it again, you get shown which was which and get back to sighted listening. Press it again and you're blind again with a new random assignment!

Care need to be taken for patterns of relay clicking not to betray what's what, but I immediately had this idea upon reading the chapter that introduced the term "blind listening" way back. I'd be surprised if no one at Schiit had the same idea earlier than that, so this could have been in development long enough to work that out.

Is there a reward for guessing correctly?

Actually closer to the kitchen right now. Moving sucks.

Tell me about it. I haven't even touched the bathroom or kitchen. Because I have to down size (for the second time in my life) 60-70% of my stuff will have me paying a couple thousand to the "Haul-my-crap-away" folks. That's actually the good part. I'm gettin' to old for this schiit!

My friends and I may or may not have done something very similar to a teacher's Smart car. 😁

Turned out to be a very useful "skill" to have later on in my life when I was a fire fighter and Smarts, Miatas, etc., had to be moved away from hydrants. It's much faster to just carry them away than to dig out the tire lifters first… 🤣

LGB? Boy, I haven't seen that logo in at least two decades…

I remember Hafler wiring a rear speaker into a stereo system using both + outputs for positive anti phase from the rear , it was supposed to give an ambient effect -utter waste of a days effort !!! Syn could be a self administering electric shock system that detects such stupid notions and Zapppp
My college roommate and I did the Hafler experiment one afternoon. We heard ambient-sounding stuff coming from the rear speakers but we also heard scratching sounds. It was not a waste of time, our alternative was studying.

These are original issue LGB loco's before the company closed and was subseqently bought by Marklin I believe. Checking current prices against the sticker prices on some boxes, this is one of the best investments I've ever made, LOL!

Quick update: looks like the Syn announcement will be Thursday the 30th, since we are getting the metal (tops) in quantity a bit later than expected. However, photos are done, bottoms are in-house, boards are in-house and tested, and everything is looking good!

Oh, and the guesses: nope. None of them. They are pretty entertaining, though.
Is it a toaster?
