Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Eeek! I'll need to have a warning about not stacking the amps on top of each other in the owner's manual. That could be...bad. (Well, not too bad, they'll have thermal shutdown.)

I haven't read all of this thread because it's, how you say, LONG, but I have read good portions of it and it does my heart good to see one of the owners of a great and growing company still posting here with regularity. Even after there was an article in the venerable Stereophile, Jason takes the time to update us with the current goings-on at Schiit, and I appreciate it, as I'm sure most of the regular readers do. Looking forward to what's around the next bend of Schiit.

It's not round. Think "rectangular donut."

For some reason I'm thinking it'll look like a cruller...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: after having "dipped my toe" into the DIY space in the past, I highly recommend Schiit (and every other small company who wishes to stay in business) stay away.  It can be like trying to maintain order at the Star Wars bar... "a hive of scum and villainy."

But what *do* they do with all the reject metal? I was kinda thinking they could be reshaped into headphone stands...

Ah, I always like to hear about prototypes being scrapped.  That inevitably leads to a better design.  And I don't want any stinking fans.

I wish some of my software colleagues heard you. The best, least buggy, most long-lived code I've ever worked on was scrapped twice before it went into production (AFAIK, it's still in use, >20 years after the initial design, and there are a couple of clones also in wide use).

The Schiit donut (yodaspeak?)
It has a giant hole in the middle you say?
Kind of like a big Schiity Anus. A Rect-angular anus.

(I'm partially imagining a giant steampunk-esque industrial smokestack rising out of the middle of the amp)

Speaking of fans…
These are the quietest fans I have yet to find…

I'm using one even as I type this and on low speed and 2' away I can't hear it, at all.

This cleanup gets very tiresome. Leave your politics at home, please.

Hope you don't have to take recourse to either of the former, and that time doesn't need to be wasted on cleanup efforts. I find this thread to helpful in unexpected ways and have been tickled by some of the micro-threads that spin off, but it has been like searching through the haystack at times. I'm glad you gave it such robust start and have stayed with it.

I had a fan like that - dead quiet - only because the rotor didn't spin.....

I have the noctua industrial fans on my cpu radiator, really quiet and very durable.
