Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I know! That is the only good book shop / pen shop in Abu Dhabi (there is one in the Dubai Mall in Dubai too). As I live very close (Reem Island), this is my go to mall. It is my plan to go there in the weekend to see if they have the Lamy 2000. Not tempting at all. NOT TEMPTING AT ALL.

And I checked the Diplomat Aero online. I really really like the design. With gold nib rightly priced for a Christmas present I would think......

I am a bit surprised though, that whilst most people I know here in Abu Dhabi don't know of the existence of Kinokuniya, someone from Bakersfield, California has that information.
Rotfl! This stop on life’s hit parade is for my wife’s job and terminal degree, of all things. Remember my recommendations were for Japanese pens? I’m also a HUUUUUGGGGGEEEE fan of Studio Ghibli films and Japanese stationery in general. I worked for a while on the westside of L.A. and (oddity of all oddities), there is a Kinokuniya in that area, not far from where I worked… I might visit them where and when I’m able…

if you can handle the clip placement, and if they have one to try, give the Pilot vanishing point a go. Great writer, gold nib, well priced, but clip forward….

Why oddity? There are several Kinokuniyas in CA, nearest me in SF and San Jose, thanks the strong Japanese immigrant communities here. But of course visiting a big Kinokuniya Tokyo is something else. Speaking of Japan->California culture, I absolutely love the High Sierra paintings of Chiura Obata.

Built these pieces of Schiit. Never done surface mount before but had to start after seeing these boards at the Schittr.

These amps honestly sound pretty good to me, despite not being designed for performance at all. They seem to have a slightly "looser" (airy? idk) sound than I'm used to and plenty of ringing if you move them around at all but these things drive my headphones really well! Not great for IEMs due to noise floor and ringing.

You should probably send me one so I can see if your ears are still properly calibrated. 🤣

Speaking of Lansdale JAN CBRZ 12AU7s...

I just happen to have a pair.

I was just perusing the manual for the yggy, and noticed this:

"The Sample Rate LEDs indicate what
format is coming in to Yggy—44.1K or 48K, plus the multiple (1, 2, 4, or 8X.)"

However, the spec page says:

"Input Capability: up to 24/192 for all inputs"

Riddle me this: since the max input is 192 (48 x 4), how could the 8x ever light up?

With MQA/DSD support coming soon with the Yggdrasil++ cards, of course!

j/k. The future is clearly not what it used to be.

where is the other one?
In my tube stash. Seeing as how it looks identical, I figured a pic of the 1 tube would suffice. But for you... :smirk:

Yup
Anyone ever tried spray painting silver Schiit black with matt black paint? Obviously I would remove the cover first...
Yup ... I did that for a Magni 3 that was gifted to me by my father. You can then rub off some of the paint on the edges and make it look a bit more interesting/worn as well. Here it is mounted in my headphone stand.
