Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I don't know what's going on here, but we've got 4" of snow on the ground and a forecast for a couple inches of ice accumulation from freezing rain this afternoon. I realize this is "North" Carolina and all, but still. Maybe Texas isn't so bad after all? Hey @Ripper2860 , any houses available in your neighborhood? :astonished:

@Jason Stoddard

I often look at the stuff I buy for a Made in the USA.
Schiit changed their "Made in the USA" to something like Assembled in USA.

I noticed this version of such proclamations on something I bought the other day: "Made in the USA of US and foreign components".

They didnt use the word "Assembled"...intersting.

Less than 1/2 inch snow here, lots of sleet and breezy currently. Hoping the freezing rain stays away. Been through a couple of big ice storms, not fun.

Plenty with a cash offer of 20% over asking. It's NUTZ!

This year, we’re getting ready to lob a couple of crazy ideas at people, much weirder ideas than an remote-controlled equalizer.
Fingers crossed it could be Gadget/Schiitpie. I wrote about this in the Sonarworks thread, but I demoed a lot of the headphone correction/roomsim programs out there and I was impressed enough to buy and start using Acustica Sienna as part of my monitoring system for mixing/mastering. And my songs sound better now - not just on my system, I can hear more, hear and correct problems I couldn't before. My songs are translating better. Unfortunately, that's $200 when not on sale and you have to bring your own (fast) computer. Not a problem in this case (well, when mastering my PC is brought to it's knees now, but I can limit some other heavy software until I can upgrade later this year), but my vinyl setup is absolutely left in the dust now. I haven't listened to it in months and I'm not sure I can go back to listening to my headphones uncorrected. I mean, I bypass Sienna to check stuff and make sure it doesn't stab my ears without digital correction, but it just sounds worse.

Anyways, all that is to say this is just some corrective EQ and a speaker/room sim of a good mastering room. If gadget can come along with even some of the other stuff I remember being discussed (which sounds much more possible with some off-the shelf processing these days than it did 3-5 years ago - see Izotope Ozone 9's ability to remix the various instruments in a stereo track if you're still interested in drum tweaking), then it will be a revelation for many. Bonus if it has analogue inputs and a decent ADC.

For the nice ones! You're going to price Ripper & I out of our 'hoods!
I was hoping if I moved down there I could persuade @Ripper2860 to mow his grass more than once a season. You know, just as a courtesy to the neighbors. :laughing:

Just had an email from my friend in Charlotte, NC, with pictures of the snow there!

Similar stories in my neighborhood. Typical accepted offer is 3-5% over ask with no contingencies.
