Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The only NFL game I have attended was the Oakland Raiders v Seattle Seahawks, at the stadium in Oakland (can't recall its name) back in 2000. It's a long trip to go to games when you live in Australia. What struck me the most was the tailgate parties before the game - totally amazing.

That is the Oakland-Alameda County Stadium. Pregame tailgating at US football games, pro and college, is both an art form and a cultural phenomenon.

PS- I am surprised you saw no evidence of violence in the stands among Raider fans in Oakland, they were renowned for that.

I just read an opinion that these are America's most popular beers with Blue Moon winning the top spot, I do not mind Blue moon with a slice of orange and I tend to wait for Samual Adams Octoberfest were I to drink it. Before Coors was sold East of the Mississippi I can recall traveling 1,000 miles round trip in one day in order to stuff as many cases as I could in a Porsche and selling off a few excess cases at increased prices to cover the trip. :beerchug: Times change.

It’s been fun to see folks’ journey with the various Schiit products over the years. Adding my Schiit product history:

Headphone system:
  • Modi and Magni (sold) – the original versions, purchased in 2013. I wanted the Bifrost and Valhalla, but couldn't afford them
  • Vali (sold) – a bit of an oddball amp; great with some headphones, not so great with others
  • Wyrd (sold) – for keeping the Modi powered 24/7
  • Bifrost Uber, since upgraded to Multibit
  • Valhalla – super with the HD 650 and beautiful glow from the tubes
  • SYS
  • Asgard 2 (sold)
  • Vali 2 (sold)
  • Modi 3 – may become a collector’s item since it has AKM chips
  • Asgard 3
  • Lyr 3
  • Jotunheim 2
  • Lokius
Speaker system:
  • Modi Multibit
  • Saga
  • Aegir

Yeah, on my wishlist would be choke input Aegir as I have high efficiency speakers and don’t need tons of power.
That is exactly what you will get with Tyr.
Aegir technology with a choke input.
The extra power just gives you extra headroom.

I always have my doubts with so called high efficiency speakers. Any sensitivity above 90 dB/w/m/1 kHz is probably distortion related or simply not true. Only exception being horn speakers like Klipsch. I don't like listening to a speaker THAT IS SHOUTING AT ME.
As always, just my opinion, YMMV

subtle EQ often works better than a maxxed out "death grin"

Most subtle EQ here - ZERO.

Nowadays I buy beer in "green bottles" for some of our guests who don't know any better, while the rest of us drink local micro brews...

In college I used to go to Washington State to buy flats of Ballentyne for $5

Someone sent me this. It looks like an abomination that should be banned as a corrupter of everything that is good and natural.

I was living in Scranton PA when this came out. Have to agree with you. Thought it was garbage. Great family run beer company, but boy did they miss the mark with this one.

I do keep other beer around for guests but it is generally Yuengling Black and Tan or Leinenkugel's.

This is inexcusable.

This time of year, there is only one beer for me, Bell’s Christmas Ale. There would be two beers for me if Great Lakes Xmas ale was sold in CA. If I don’t have my Xmas Ale, the infinitely tasty (and string) Thelonious Monk Ale sits in to tickle the keys of my taste buds.

Is everyone sitting down? OK Good. I will now be posting an audio-related post. Please be sure to mark your calendar as I am sure we will be celebrating this momentous even in perpetuity...

I am thinking about getting a MiniDSP DDRC24 DIRAC-based DSP as the final bit in my search for audio room correction. I already have bass traps and some diffusion/absorption going on in my room, but I'm looking to see if DIRAC DSP will help in adding a bit more clarity. Any thoughts on using this unit and if so, how would one best incorporate it with an external DAC? I'm thinking DAC and turntable to my SYS switch and then out to the miniDSP which is then fed to stereo analog inputs on my amp while feeding one analog out on the DSP to my powered sub.

Any thoughts, observations, suggestions appreciated.

You regional BBQ snobs need to just get over yourselves and let's talk about things that really matter, like regional craft beer.

I have an important one: I never do this but this is too good to be true for all old geezers here.
Seems people using Viagra have a very reduced chance of getting Alzheimer's, like 70% less chance than non-users.
Research if this is really true has yet to start but statistics do point in that erection.

I wish everywhere was smoke free sooner... it was one reason I have not been back to Europe. Best ways to ruin a good time is having to breathe in second hand smoke of any kind.
Amazing since it's more than 25 years that it was allowed in any public place to smoke.

That is 2 extra conversions in your signal path. Analog to digital ADC to be able to process in the digital domain. Then back to analogue again DAC to be able to feed your amp.

I used Dirac only in the digital domain years ago and stopped using it because I found the result to become fatiguing to listen to
To my ears the digital processing is audible. The processed signal was fed to Yggdrasil.

Dirac does its work only at a specified listening position. That also was not so pleasant in my perception. The rest of the room can become worse. Making the measurements is quite a hassle.
