Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I was surprised to hear that the broadcast engendered the books, not the usual book first. If true, the broadcast is the definitive version.
Absolutely true. I was living in the UK (Edinburgh) when it was first broadcast on BBC 4. The books came later. Wikipedia: "Originally a 1978 radio comedy broadcast on BBC Radio 4, it was later adapted to other formats, including stage shows, novels, comic books, a 1981 TV series, a 1984 video game, and 2005 feature film."

I specifically wanted the Magni 3+ since I am getting a very low-impedance, low-sensitivity planar that could benefit from the added driver stage in comparison to the Asgard 3. If you compare the performance between the Magni 3+ and the Asgard 3 at low impedances (32 Ohm), the Magni 3+ has way less distortion because of this.
for HP amps, I have A3 and Magni3+, and for DAC's both Modi3+ and Bifrost (OG) Multibit. Driving a low-z planar (~16 ohms, ~90dB/mW). I found some combinations to be better than others-- Modi3+ / Asgard 3 sounded a bit bright with poor imaging & soundstage, but Mod3+ / Magni3+ sounded much more balanced, to my ears. YMMV of course.

With low-impedance (~16 ohm) and low-efficiency cans the A3 has the advantage of remaining in Class A / Continuity operation up to and beyond an SPL range of 90dB, while the Magni3+ will likely shift to AB operation at that SPL (assuming perhaps ~10mA output stage bias current).

If you are concerned about Modi3+ stability, buy a set of junker $10 low-z dynamic headphones and drive them 24/7 for a week with the new amp.

Modi3+ does have the advantage of being only $99 and being immediately available...

Lyr 1 may be adapted (socket saver + adapter) to 6SN7 tubes. Some folks consider that a bonus over the Lyr 2. Auctions have them from around $150 and up. $200 appears to be common.
Bifrost depends: as tincanear pointed out.
If local to you and you are talking to the seller ... offer like $200 for everything and see how it goes. Never know unless you ask.
$200 for a Bifrost and Lyr is a steal, especially if Bifrost is multibit.
Multibit Bifrost and Lyr 1 6SN7 adapted is a very nice kit.
JMTC & YMMV

Edit: for a reality check; there is a Bifrost MB with Gen 5 USB, shipped, on the "For Sell" asking $385.
another buyer has already bid $240 for both
edit:
I am the bidder with the highest bid now. The Bifrost are 7-8 years.
seller told me he has not used them for a while. both light up. Have no HP to test with

Run the preamp outs from the Vali 2 into the analog inputs on the Jot 2.
This is absolutely my most favorite setup (YMMV, of course), except I'm running Lyr3 as a preamp to Jot2. I also set my Jot2 vol at about 12, and use Lyr vol control as the variable one. Roon-> Rpi endpoint ->Supra USB cable->Bifrost2 -> Lyr3->Jot2. Then I can use balanced out or SE out for headphones. So have lots of play in the Lyr3 vol control. Harder to drive headphones the Jot2 vol might be set higher than 12 position.

Here are my measly results. I have to say that this is from a 4g chip modem connection in the middle of the woods in the country side where we recently moved into.
Not as good as the 400M optical fibre connection I had in the city, but much better than I expected. 20€ per month and no data caps.

I have contacted the service provider that I'm interested to get a 5g or fibre connection if/when they are expanding into this direction.

In the race to the bottom, I win (so far, I think)

Rural Victoria, Australia. Have 3 options - Fixed Wireless setup with the National Broadband Network (20mbps if i'm lucky here), Satellite (Terrible) or 4G from Optus Telco, which I have. This is not too bad for a Friday evening, and maybe gets as high as 80mbps on weekday mornings. Anyway, it serves the pupose for the two of us.

But I sooooo want 800 or more :)

More than sufficient.

PING ms
2
DOWNLOAD Mbps
284.01
UPLOAD Mbps
292.92

I live out in the country or my speeds might get closer to one gig, but this is fine for me. Prior to fiber optic there would be a great speed reduction most evenings but that is in the past.

Just ran 2 ping tests to servers in Atlanta and Dallas:

Atlanta: DOWNLOAD 5.53 Mbps UP 0.82 Mbps LATENCY 28 ms JITTER 1ms
Dallas: 9.25 Mbps 0.82 Mbps 46 ms 8ms

All for the outstanding fee of $120 USD/month.
