Welcome to the world of real whiskey. You might also want to try Kentucky Bourbon if you'd like to treat your taste buds.

(I have strong feelings against Jack Daniels.)

I mentioned to our guide at the Springbank tour that Jack Daniels is in a dry county. After I explained what a dry county was, and what it meant, the distillery staff had a combined moment of incredulity and hilarity at the antics of some silly USA people.

I'll guess that after a run of posts about power switches and LEDs, you're probably ready for a stiff drink.

Agreed, that's usually where I stick to, but Springbank (especially Longrow, their own heavily peated one) is also worth a shot. Actually, there are a lot of them worth a shot.

And yep, Cadenhead is another of their brands. Longrow is most heavily peated, Springbank is in the middle, Cadenhead no peat.

If you can find a early 90's Springbank 21, you're in for a treat.

C'mon, that's not fair — after all, Moore County is just protecting us against ourselves, since we cannot be trusted to make responsible decisions on our own.  It's good that we have people in positions of power here in the USA that know what's better for us and have the good sense to block us from doing things that would be irresponsible.  Now, if only someone would make it a law to prohibit one from replacing their Yggy's fuse with a piece of copper…

Can you get any of that here?

Edit: Nevermind, found my answer.

Bourbon guy myself. (Is that like enjoying DSD, or will Schiit folk get Schiit-faced on bourbon, too?)

There are many bourbons that are just fiiiinnne...but I'm still really just getting started on that.

Honestly, knowing I probably look like a functioning alcoholic by saying this, I'm an equal opportunity drinker. The most common thing I drink would probably be wine, but beer is fine as well, as are distilled liquors. Not a huge fan of most rums, but I'll try anything once...

Bourbon recommendations beyond Bookers and Willett? And rye?

I need to broaden my horizons.

I need to broaden my horizons.
My favorites right now are Woodford Reserve (Distiller's Select) and Elijah Craig 12. Maker's Mark isn't bad at all, but the uptick in popularity has driven it into "paying for the brand" territory. Four Roses Small Batch is also very good.

I can't do rye anything (bread nor whiskey). That grain just doesn't agree with me.
