My Zu Omens finally arrived. I'll be in the sweet spot for a while, oblivious to the world.

Sweet!! Interested in your impressions when you have time. I went back and forth between those and the Tektons and finally decided on the Tektons mostly due to the price. Haven't ever heard the Zu's so maybe it's best I don't know what I'm missing. :)

Well, I've never heard Tektons, so there's that.
Obviously, since I've only had them for 24 hours they can probably continue burn-in for several weeks yet. I've also only raised them ~2 mm above the 5-6 mm they were at (I can slide a CD jewelcase in at the front), and right now they are placed as my old speakers were (equilateral triangle, slight toe in, crossing a bit behind seat). I put some coins under the front. There's plenty of time and opportunity to play around here.

So far, only tested with jazz and classic rock, at moderate levels, I will save some of the heavier stuff for later.
Initial impressions: Nice spaciousness, good (great) treble definition, dynamic, great transients (drums are drums, not dropped tomatoes the next room over). Way more detailed than I'm used to, instruments more natural sounding. Hearing small details on wellknown records I've not noticed before. No veil lifted, but the duvet over my speakers has certainly been removed. Soundstage not super impressive, but placement is kinda "just plop 'em here for now". Room for improvement here I guess.

Oh, and they passed WAF (although she says she preferred them with the driver protection disks ON... LOL)

Yeah like I get a chance to sleep. I am rearranging my shop so I can do some woodworking and electronics for a very distinguished audiophile, and for some other schmo who resides in North Carolina. :)

Send all your cats to that fellow in N.Carolina and you'll probably get more sleeping done.

Finnegan for sure, no matter what chair I select in my shop, he gets there first! DB35EF01-BC2E-486E-A339-42D124365F0F.jpeg

Well I was waiting on Jason, but I probably don't have that many years left. :) I have another one coming (not 300B) that may make it irrelevant though...
