Mentally, you are not only flexible, but actually a little mushy

I take exception with the implication that Marilyn Manson fans would be mentally mushy :p While it is entirely legitimate to have a dislike for his music or stage persona, Manson is an educated, well-spoken person and puts actual thought and effort into his music and lyrics (and, I guess, in his paintings even though I haven't really been following that side of his artistic endeavors.)

Man I'm old. I remember when the Cars released their first album. Awesome stuff.
And when they first hit the scene they were considered new wave punk, along with Blondie, Pretenders and Tom Petty. Yes, Tom Petty.

Continuing the Talk Talk discussion... I recommend all 5 of their studio records if you've ever heard one and liked it. Each album is an important transformation from the previous one. Even their debut album, which Mark Hollis regretted due to the record company and producers trying to shoehorn them into the new-romantic genre, was much more sophisticated than what their contemporaries were putting out. Duran Duran was more popular, but Talk Talks debut was at another level. Despite this, I think their debut is probably my least favorite, but had it been from another band I would still have rated it pretty highly.

This is what got me to buy "It's my Life" when it came out and that remains one of my favorites. After that whenever they released something I bought it and was never disappointed. I bought the Mark Hollis solo record about a year before he died and only ggave it a couple of listens. I need to dig that back out and give it another chance.

I'd bet the Mad Max style music video for You Got Lucky might have been what lumped him in with New Wave bands that were hitting it big on MTV. I'm pretty sure that was the very first music video I saw in 1982 and that after seeing it I never watched anything but MTV for the rest of my senior year.

Tom Petty's first single was Breakdown, released in 1976 which is the same year that punk first started getting attention. Any new act that was a little bit different from what was then mainstream was lumped in as punk in those days.

Agreed. 'Refugee' from 'Damn The Torpedoes' was another hit that was lumped in with the new 'punk' genre.

Probably the wrong place to ask, so I apologize in advance.

Does anyone know the maximum plate current the vali 2 can handle? Im looking at some potential tube options that might suck down as much as 40ma per channel which means the PSU would see an 80ma load. The LM317s and most of the PSU components looks like it could handle it, but IDK what the resistors are rated for in terms of wattage.

Listening to Damn the Torpedoes right now. No doubt is as punky as Sex Pistols. Or even more :)

I got my Jot R on Saturday.

Fresh out of box, it did sound veiled without enough bass

But it did not sound sibilant or harsh tthough.

I had kept playing it 4 hours then much of veil was gone with more bass coming out.

After having it on overnight, temperature on the top plate was around 90 degree, thus it appears to be fine to leave it on 24/7.

I had serious comparison between Jot R and Crown XLS 2502(775 watts for 4 ohm), using Dave and Mscaler and Purist Audio Design balanced cable.

To my surprise, they sound very similar.

Crown has slight edge on bass impact and speed.

Jot R has slight edge on clean treble and details.

Jot R has clear edge on soundstage width and depth.

With Chesky test CD, I could realize how wide and deep Sr1a can get with Jot R.

I have HD 800s, but it seems that Sr1a with Jot R give slightly more wide and deep soundstage than HD 800s.

With overall musicality, nice details, fast transient and enormous soundstage out of Jot R, I can not recommend it too highly for Sr1a.

Combination of Sr1a and Jot R will be my end game headphone set.
