Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

An indirect-heated tetrode "blowing away" a direct-heated triode? I guess anything is possible no matter how improbable.
Sound wise, to me, yep. Of course the rest of the amp might have had something to do with it too and I loved my Shindo.

From the link:
"The prototype amp Schiit is working on for the RAAL-requisite SR1a Earfieled Headphone Monitor will include a DAC and is said to put out 1000 watts of power" :astonished:

DIrect drive into the RAAL SR1a (including cable) would be more like 20 Watts, I reckon.

Perhaps @Jason Stoddard can give us the facts ...

Well, seeing you couldn't listen to both tubes in the same amp I'd say that yes, the amp probably had something to do with it.

if you do the math 13A at clipping into the SR1a from a Jotunheim R is equivalent to 1000W into the resistor box from a speaker amp. Keep in mind that’s per channel.

Oh, I thought the price was for a matched pair.
I don’t think I’ll ask what an amp for those costs...

If you have to ask....

There are a couple out there now that are mucho dinero. That's why I want a Schiit which has a far greater chance of being something I can actually afford.

Can we compare my favorite 12AU7 to a 300B sometime soon Bill??? Just have paramedics standing by.

If you build the amp, I'll provide the tubes. Win-win, right?

14.2 Amp at clippiing direct into 0.2 Ohms is 20 Watt.

It doesn't say "is equivalent to"

Ok send me the 300B’s and I will get back to you. (Hmmm EBAY listing, high reserve, patience.) Sounds great Bill, I just need to check air fares to Argentina.

You'll need a bunch of 9v batteries to level match the comparison, me thinks.

LOL! I have ultimate faith in Tom's ability to determine the optimal number of batteries required.

I was being facetious,

I am curious what some of your favorite headphones are for the Mjolnir?

So far Alpha Primes do all right but I may have to expand my choices.

Bill and I might disagree on some technical aspects of tubes but his auditory perception is amazing. He can back up what he says IMHO.
