Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I'm less worried about stacking, because "desktop" to me means more "all in one." Gungnir, Freya, etc are fine at 16" wide because they sit on shelves and are more frequently used with speakers (and, in the case of Freya, they have remote control).
...And here I am planning to use my newly ordered gumby as my desktop dac, with my lyr 3 stacked on top of it, welp ._.)

Hey, it kinda works, right?

Phillips (the co-inventor of the optical drive with Sony - the "S" and "P" of S/PDIF) has always made perhaps the best transport mechanisms in the world.
Yes together with TEAC imho

Then you get into the optical cable that carries S/PDIF and that is Toslink, Toshiba Link. Coaxial cable can carry S/PDIF as well. Some companies copy, others innovate.:)

They add gain equal to the tube mode. JFET and passive have lower gain.
Come on schiitheads! You can do better than that. I believe the main difference between saga and freya was the gain which is about 0dB for Saga and one of the reasons i do hesitate buying one but the again i never have the need to listen with volume on 0dB position.
Anyway lisst gives you in saga an xtra active stage without tube

I don't believe that is the case. I previously emailed Schiit asking if they did add gain and they replied no...

"LISST tubes will not add gain to the output, it only converts the Saga from a tube amp to a solid-state amp."

Which is what lead me here to see what the difference is.

Thanks.
Other than a product that has a significantly longer lifespan (than a disposable valve)...my gut feeling is the LISST is for users like me that suspect NOS will dwindle, the price rising based on (in my case, Canadian) supply-and-demand. I like messing around with my sound using weird and wonderful "things". I probably will never get Dolby-Surround Sound from my Schiit, but I can tweak the stereo. By the time I get around to another upgrade, the LISST product might be a footnote in the Schiit story (saga?)

BTW (edit) -- @pure5152 ...nice presentation, eh.
