Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Having read his book. I am pretty sure I have figured out this is why Jason hates to preannounce upcoming products.

For me, I will get one whenever they are done...

:)

I am with you 100%.

I was just asking if there was any new information he might want be willing to tell us. I was curious....we hadn't heard anything in a week and I wondered how things were going. I was not putting pressure on Jason to get the product out faster. I wasn't demanding an update. I just asked a question.....

Thanks, Thouston. I know that Vidar will be ready and ship when Vidar is ready to ship. I will order speakers when I know that my Vidar amps have shipped. So I don't "need" to have an update. I was just curious if there was any new information. If not, that's cool. No rush and no worries!
Bought speakers way ahead of Vidar release. Looking at the bright side, I would enjoy the improvements in sound when I get the Vidars!

Now that would be a Hel of a situation!

I don't see a Fostex T-series RP Mk III, I don't care how you modify it, sounding better than Sennheiser HD 650 headphones. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.....!

Speaking of the Sennheiser HD 650, Massdrop has just put a limited run of 7,500 at $250 with free shipping up as a drop.

If you've wanted a pair they probably won't be available new at this price anywhere else. MSRP is $500.

More info here: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx

Disclaimer: I have no relationship with Massdrop except that I've signed up to buy a pair. Always wanted the Sennie's: never could afford them before.

He has a HD650 in his signature...

I suspect the "you've" is the proverbial "you". In other words, even though he quoted my post, I suspect he was speaking to the group in general and not me specifically.

I've spent 51 years in a Vidar free world, and another few weeks or so of being Vidarless isn't going to kill me. Not sure though if the rusting hulk that is the current power amp will survive that long. :)

After all this time and expectation wouldn't it be sad if the Vidars were just "ordinary" :disappointed:

:smiling_imp:

I heard the Vidar prototypes at RMAF last October, they are not ordinary, and in terms of value for your money they are exceptional. I have been quietly drooling here in the corner waiting on the production units.

I want my Vidar now, too..... but I am heading off for a work trip (July 9 to 29), then on a short break to Beervana in New Zealand :L3000:, then another work trip (August 16 to Sept 10 roughly).... so I can (have to?) wait. I would be very disappointed if it was here and I wasn't. I already miss my Schiit when I'm away, so don't want any more separation anxiety.

I will try and coordinate my order and delivery with mid-September. Will be a nice treat to come home to :)

BTW, have the final specs for the Vidar been publicized? Total power into 8/4 ohms, THD at full power, those sorts of things? And HxW/D and weight?

We had a weight guessing contest a while back and Jason said "about 25 pounds". Dimensions reportedly are 9x12.9x3.85. Hope that helps some.

I just got my shipping confirmation from Schiit for my Gumby and Mjolnir 2 to host my recently purchased un-modded HD800s. Some might suspect I'm a generation behind with the 800s but I'm still fascinated with so much about them. Bimby and Valhalla 2 will move to my desk with the HD600s. The only interconnects I've got are some copper wired 18" Aurums. Anyone want to suggest a step up from these cables for this setup?

BTW, John Coltrane's Blue Train is filling my room right now. It surprised me in the queue on the heels of some of Kleiber's Beethoven. Those first notes were so so pure! Makes me want to grab the phones and close my eyes but back to work it will be.

Thanks Schiit. Thanks HeadFi community.

I feel "fortunate" to have read your post, as "fate" would have it, I was thinking if Mike did an end game phono preamp it could be called "Snotra" but "Gram" might be better.

LOL! My vote is for Snotra ... that's just ... that's just too fantastic to pass up
