Seeing Jack White on the very last day of his epic tour tomorrow. And my wife gets to go! Coworker had a spare ticket that became available last minute. It's been long sold out so yay!

This solo tour is the hardest driving show I’ve seen in a long time. It’s exhausting seeing how hard he works. Exhilarating. Also, mandatory ear plugs - no joke at all. Bring an extra few pairs for people you see who forgot. But so good.

Wearing shorts, sitting in the sun on the deck, only 49° F presently, but it is very quiet except for the birdsong--from the silence it appears most of the neighbors went to the lake or camping this weekend--and it feels lovely, a bit bracing after a sleepless night. I'd snap of photo but, despite being on a week-long vacation to sunny climes, my legs remain so alabaster white that I fear the reflection would blind the fine folks on this forum.

Supposed to be sunny all day today with a high of 65 and nice all weekend. I just might need to properly clean the pellet grill today and smoke a pork butt tomorrow.

Here's to a pleasant Saturday for all.

Nice! How many watts per gallon? I had a 135 gallon before LEDs back in the day….And getting that 6 foot tank sealed the deal with my now- wife, as I was shopping for a 75 gallon to stock the house we were moving into, and she was the one the brought up going all-in for the 6 footer.

Life has gotten too complicated in the immediate gratification and tik tok era - so having slower interests like fish and music really resonate with me now.

I'm not sure, I think the light unit is 100W, but I run it at around 88%. If I up the CO2, I might push the light up, but it gets too bright for the fish. I also do a daylight/dusk ramp, so it only hits that for around 6 hours a day. I did work out the PAR at one point but can't remember, it's been stable for a while.

What a songwriter.

There’s a tendency for Austin types to bemoan the way the city has changed over time. I’m usually agnostic about it. Growth brings change, some good, some less good, some flat bad, but growth always seems a better choice, to me, than inertia. The 20+ years I’ve been here have seen a lot of change.

But I will say that hearing new McMurtry makes my a wee bit nostalgic for my (affordable) rental house that was a short walk from the Continental Club, when the tickets to his Sunday night residency were beer money and the Lonestars plus a nice tip gave you change on a five.

That sounds cool. I love Austin, I visited there and the area west towards San Antonio several times over the years. On my last visit the traffic was getting a bit intimidating compared to home (2 vehicles have gone by this morning) . I've seen a couple McMurtry shows at clubs in Omaha and Sioux City. Both great shows.

The traffic is insane, but that’s sort of what happens when the basic infrastructure was designed for about 500,000 people and 2.5 million of us live in the metro area.
