Only matters IMHO if the DAC is an endgame class DAC like the Nagra HD DAC X of course. Else, DAC will easily bottleneck the source upgrades as explained from my post between Wiim Pro and Innuos Nazare streamer. IMHO, "outside in" with cables, streamers, power supplies upstream of the DAC, and speakers and speaker cables, interconnect, all work, are audible. IME at least, with Schiit DACs (LIM, MIB), Denafrips Pontus, Chord Qutest, and Holo Cyan 2. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your assertion? Also, FWIW, I hear a difference with power cords and the character of the cord coming thru the DAC, if not "coloring" the DAC, but let's not go there since I'm only referring to a system w/ speakers and power conditioning for everything, etc.

That's going extreme. You will, but still within the boundaries of the DAC's max potential. ALL of those you listed will affect the DAC's sound, but again, still limited by DAC's implementation/architecture so despite putting all the tweaks you add there, you will still hear that yes, this sonic presentation is definitely coming from the MIB, LIM, Pontus, Cyan 2, etc. i.e. their sound signature still comes through, even if you use PC or iPad or Pink Faun 2.16 ultra streamer, Stage III concepts Poseidon power cords, etc. You will hear which components do affect the sound though, for example Pink Faun + Stage III concepts Poseidon power cords elevated the articulation, vocal focus, room reverbs, finer microdetails and microdynamics, and black background of MIB, but overall, MIB's sonic character/sound signature is still 100% transparent in the sonic presentation

Right. And that's why last night, after several Belgian beers, I decided to just opt-in for a new Bggy. I can move the MiB to my office system, and re-sell my OG A2 for $1,000+ to my buddy Glenn.

So my new years goal was simply a Wotan. Got a GS2 in front, Vandy 2 in rear. Then Gunny 2 (not crazy interested), then Mimir (my non primary systems are fine) announcements, didn't really move the needle - so still thinking Wotan.

While warming to a Singular card only, but Bggy stretch is only 500 above that right? Okay, maybe....but Gunny2 getting Mimir like features with similiar out the door pricing? AND me still having a fully functioning GS2 too? That might be better served in the more often used but less serious home theater in living room! Or maybe vise versa with a Gunny2's digital preamp being upgrade over AVR preamp section.

These, my friends, are first world problems.

So my new years goal was simply a Wotan.

That is an excellent goal. I chose Tyr, because Wotan didn't exist at the time. I might rethink that, today. I do love the choke PS in Tyr, though. My B&Ws present a complex impedance curve in the mid-bass that Tyr simply laughs at... been listening for nearly 3 hours at ~80 db at the listening position, and Tyr's heatsinks aren't even warm. That's crazy and lovely at the same time.

I thought that I heard that the FB'd Tyr would be Tyr 2F, and there would be additional amplification goodies on-board (Halo maybe? Enhanced Nexus or Continuity, et al) - but after Jason's AMA this week I think that maybe it'll "just" be OG Tyr + FB. That would be fine, because the amps I own today are spectacular and I would like to drop back to 4/5ths at work in the next year...

I chose to buy a new Bggy because a.) I need two DACs and b.) I have peeps who will buy my 'overstock' gear for a fair and decent price. Otherwise, I would have gone for the Singular card for MiB. With 3 Yggys in the house - OG A2, MiB and (soon) Singular - I could potentially do a detailed run-off and write about them here...

If I don't wimp out and choose to sit on the couch drinking Oregon Spirit BiB, that is... <g>

Yes. You got it. I am not by any means an exceptionally religious guy, but we are truly blessed. I only have to worry about my health. I am so lucky!

I just like sharing my experiences hearing multiple systems all the way to the highest summit. Having a tweaked out MIB setup myself (2x DDCs, decent power cords such as SRA Signature Amp power cord for MIB, Audiophile Network Switch and Network Acoustics eno2 streaming system, Diretta Protocol on a SOtM sMS-200 OG streamer with Ultracap LPS-1, some Schiit Cigarettes(TM) for Saga OG), I can confidently say MIB’s signature is still the overall foundation of the sound with every component it’s attached to just enhances all the good aspects of MIB
