Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

How about modifying the existing starquad cables (remove one RCA, replace with XLR) to tie cable shield braid and one phase (e.g. both blue wires) to RCA shell, both wht wires to RCA center on source end, and use 3 pin XLR on the load end (cable shield to pin 1, blue wires to pin 2, wht wires to pin 3) and eliminate the transformers [use balanced Tyr input and CMRR to reduce hum/buzz]. try one first, with cabling to 2nd tyr disconnected.

or buy stock “blue jeans aes” XLR cables from Amazon (offering free returns) and build short RCA to XLRM adapters to test out
What about those cables with RCA on one end and XLR on the other?
I have some long ones around, I think, that I can contribute to the scientific process.

....
I guess Jason has read this book
I worked for that guy when I was shedding my tadpole tail. Interesting fellow, the "discussions" he would have with his old college roommate about Porky's were hilarious.

More seriously, it just occurred to me: If the megacomboburrito filter is a time and phase accurate filter for PCM, can Singularity be a time and phase accurate D/S implementation? The mind staggers at the implications...

What's the math say for a D/S sampling frequency with near infinite sample size? Screw 16/24/32 let's go to 1024! I need to hear the audience's shoelaces (still a thing, right?) untying during the 1812 Overture crescendo!

Wisconsin is great, I visit there about once a year for business reasons. They’re like an over-the-top American version of Finland, I feel.
...
I think it’s probably a chain store, but we visited a gigantic outdoors/hunting gear store somewhere between Illinois and Wisconsin the last time I was there. The store itself was huge and had enough guns to outfit a small army, but then it turns out it’s only a small part of a shopping mall, which housed an ice hockey rink among other things…

On to other things, last night a future head-fier was born. Hope to share this hobby with my son when he grows up.
REI? Mall of the Americas? Living near Philly, I must insist that Mall is a pale imitation of The King of Prussia Mall

Congrats! Is he your first? Was he born wearing IEMs? :L3000:

With the recent posts about The Fab Four, mainly courtesy of ORT. I have been re-discovering The Beatles.

I grew up listening to their singles as a child, from the early '60s, so they are almost part of my DNA!

I have all their albums on CD from Rubber Soul on, plus:
Past Masters
The Red album 1962-66 ( two versions)
The Blue album 1967-70 ( two versions)
Live at the BBC box set
Let it Be ... Naked
Love ( not a true Beatles album but a great-sounding 'mash up' by George and Giles Martin)
All the Giles Martin re-mixes ( Revolver to Let it Be inclusive)

My favourite albums are definitely the later ones, but in a moment of madness, I have just bought a CD box set on eBay called 'The Beatles in Mono'.
It is used, but appears to be in excellent condition.

I certainly wasn't going to pay the crazy prices for the vinyl boxset!

It is pretty crazy to be buying Mono recordings in 2025, but many Beatles aficionados think that the early albums sound far better this way...

I'll soon find out.

This is the boxset

I looked it up and the mall is called Gurnee Mills. Apparently it’s only the third largest in Illinois, so we still have some wonders left in US to experience. :anguished:

And thanks! This is our first child. No IEMs, but a good set of lungs based on the volume of his crying.

More Blue Jeans cables are on their way and are scheduled to arrive today. I'll report.

@Zojokkeli First off, congratulations! That's awesome news. Even though it's been a while now, the day my daughter and my son were born are ones I shall never forget. Welcome to parenthood. My best wishes to your son, you and your family.

My parents lived in Chicago, in a suburb called Oak Park, for over a dozen years. It's one of the world's great cities, and well worth a visit. The museums, art gallery, and aquarium, are all top notch, and there are innumerable clubs and music venues and cool record shops all over the place for music. (It's where ZMF headphones are headquartered too.)

I'd never made the connection, but yeah I suppose the two--Finland and Wisconsin--are similar, though I'd wager Wisconsin has more cheese and guns. I remember eating some interesting reindeer milk cheese from Finland once, though I've forgotten the name now. I bet the store was Cabela's--those places are gigantic! And between Minnesota and Wisconsin you'll find hockey rinks everywhere. Both of my kids played hockey and I'd wager between them and the years and years of tournaments and league games I've attended to watch them, I've visited at least three-quarters of the rinks in Minnesota. In one year alone, I put 25,000 miles on my car for all hockey festivities. Ha! (The things you do as a parent! You'll see. 😉)

Still haven’t managed to properly visit Chicago whilst there, but it’s definitely on my list during some visit. My boss also okayed a visit to our Houston facility the next time I’m over there.

Wisconsin an Americanized Finland, eh? I will tell my daughter who is taking Finnish language courses in preparation for a year-long visit for her work. Maybe she should go to Milwauke for a while first...

You must have visited a Bass Pro Shop store. Some of them are so large they contain lakes for actual boat demos.

Congrats on the little one!

Are the 1578s in the photo a tease for us mortals?
Oh I was going through my collection, trying to match pairs for a friend, those two go out later this month.🤪 I am trying to downsize some.

It is not uncommon for me to have a few tasks going on at the same time and tomorrow I will ship out multiple items.

BTW @bcowen I wanted to say thanks for the PirateShip recommendation. The Folkvangr is headed back to San Antonio for repairs and it was much cheaper than going directly through UPS or FedEx or USPS. Appreciate the suggestion!

Best I can do is drive thru Liquor and Cheese. Only about a mile from my house. The business sold last year and I have not checked to see if they are still doing the drive thru thing.

I have used PirateShip for years, I love it and use it a few times a week. I can box and ship tubes and head shells and ship from my home if USPS.😉
