Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Well I try to be a good host but I am steering people away from the best stuff. 🤪

Sure. But I think you can find a nice middle ground from your current alternate offering. 😂

LOL like this?

question mark.jpg

We hear you. Working on it.
More interesting to me: if that is a balanced dac, a modius successor with Forkbeard…the input for an external linear power supply instead of switch mode is interesting!

🤪 If that is middle ground what is below it, home brew made with potatoes?

I wonder why you didn't use short RCA to the transformer box and long XLR to the Tyrs?
The Sewell Silverback XLR, 50ft, are reasonably priced, < $30/each. I have, I think, 3 pairs.

Short RCA and long XLR is the way I had been connecting the Tyrs until last night. I had hoped short XLR cables would reduce capacitance and improve frequency response. One of the Jensen app notes says:

As with any transformer having a Faraday shield, line input transformers have significant leakage inductance and their secondary load effectively controls their frequency response and roll-off characteristics. The load resistance or network recommended by the manufacturer should be used to achieve specified bandwidth and transient response. Input transformers are intended to immediately precede an amplifier stage with minimal input capacitance. Additional capacitive loading of the secondary should be avoided because of its adverse effect on frequency and phase response. For example, the capacitance of two feet of ordinary shielded cable, about 100 pF, is enough to significantly degrade performance of many input transformers.

When my Crown D-75A amp was working, I used 0.5 meter of unbalanced cable and about two feet of balanced cable.

That was supposed to be your current alternate offering.

As they say, If one must explain the joke it wasn't funny. ☹️

The hf roll-off is either due to: preamp output characteristics when heavily capacitively loaded — measure output voltage of preamp and long rca cables or preamp + 3000pf or so across the input of the hp dmm;
Audio transformers in the signal path (meas freq response of pre with xfmrs and 10k resistive load using short 1m cables, no power amps);

Have you considered cables with telescoping shielding (no audio xfmrs)? I.e. twisted pair or star quad, rca input to inner 2 cond (float & isolate cable shield at rca input end) xlr out with cable shield to xlr pin1, signal to pin 2, pin 3 to other inner cable conductor)

Yes, I have considered RCA connected twisted pair using Beldon 1800F. I've put off purchasing because from Blue Jeans the cables would be special order, and hence not returnable.

Pure tube. But with impedance multiplier for hard-to-drive headphones.

Drop the logo and name down a bit and then you will have Room for the VUze. Or not. Fritz Lang told me recently that it will never happen in his lifetime.

Having said that I must also state that the Valhalla 3 is nice looking but not ORTwellian enough. It will sell because of what it is, not what it isn't and that is as it should be.

Come to Wisconsin
Wisconsin is, ahem, unique. It's the only state I've ever been in where one can buy both booze and a firearm in the same drive-through.

Forkbeard is an amazing platform, which will continue to evolve and expose new capabilities (all for free, no money-grubbing subscriptions or fees here, no worries about us going full Black Mirror season 7 episode 1* on you guys, we are not assholes).

Schiit does not flow from assholes. :beerchug:

Crap however does come from assholes and even more so from whole asses. Enough ramblin'. I have not a clue as to what "Black Mirror"
is. I suspect that I would not enjoy it. :L3000:

LOL, I don't know what's up with the weird hair-flip thing (looks like an INXS album cover) but I appreciate a good Trio recommendation. :)
