Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Hm. Looks like a DAC. SE and XLR output. Spdif Coax and Toslink, single Unisono USB. But DC in?

Is that some sort of big forkbearded Modi Multibit?
+1, but looks like SE outs, plus AES, unison USB, and S/PDIF Coax and Toslink inputs. mid-size 6" x9" chassis. coaxial power connector is likely the 14-16VAC 1.5A or 2A wall wart used on many other Schiit devices.

Last time I was in Japan, the craft beer/microbrew scene was solid. Hopefully still so.

The last time I was in Japan the whole Viet Nam thing hadn't developed yet. The local beer was good back then too.

Yes, I know that not every item will be forkbearded. With the price increase that was announced I wasn't sure if VH3 would still be considered Blood and Guts.
There's no real correlation between Blood & Guts and pricing. It's all about: Does it make sense to add Forkbeard to a product. In Valhalla's case, it doesn't, and so it's Blood & Guts.

LOL, I cannot post beer without comment. 🤪

Ripper's stout had me reaching for a pastry stout, this from Fonta Flora collab'd with Stella - yes, that Stella. Moravian cookie-style with actual cookies in the mash. Damned good on a Saturday, paired up with some splendid Ravel performed by Trio Pantoum on the La Dolce Volta label.

Enjoying these @Jason Stoddard teases immensely. Somebody give that guy some more time off on the weekends to hang out with us and post! 😁

https://yorkshiredalesbrewery.co.uk/product/askrigg-ale/

This is my ale for tonight. In Yorkshire we drink alot of ales.

I always partake of the country I'm in. In Japan, I used to drink Kirin Ichiban. That was my favourite.
I'm always a fan of Old Peculiar on draught. I need to try the Askrig next time we are over. And it has Amarillo hops. If all goes to plan we will be there weekend after next.

Cheers

More like a forkbearded Modius, hopefully with Unison 384, like I asked about in a previous post! :D - Looks too thin to be a forkbearded Bitfrost

(good thing I waited)

The blatant Barbie theme would just creep me out. 🤣

No fear. A Barbie theme is not conducive to black and silver so you're safe. 😏

Usually much later than it's time...but we are working on that. And making huge progress.

Last year: proof that digital at Schiit was still progressing. See Forkbeard and Gungnir 2.
This year: two huge new technologies affecting 5 products (two existing, 3 new). Also maybe Jord.
Next year, or shortly after: blow up everything you know. The Big Bang is fake kinda level.

Here's the thing: no matter what we do, if you have an Yggy...you won't be left behind. Even if you don't choose to spend on an upgrade. You'll see what I mean shortly. Those who chose the only DAC in the world that has run for almost a decade and is still argued about as end-game (even with the original boards) are gonna be rewarded.
Any chance of a new Bifrost card soon? Though it sounds like I should abandon the Bifrost and grab an Yggy.

Why is V3 more expensive? This is why:

https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/2010?amount=350

Oh yeah, and it's $14 less than that, for a much more capable amp with an impedance multiplier, low gain, no feedback mode, much better looking, etc.
Back in 1989, Sony released the MDR-R10 for $2600, which is equivalent to $6700 today. Given I thought that Audeze's original LCD-3s were better at a meet back in 2013 (at Mozilla's office in Tokyo, of all places), and the prices of flagships today, I reckon we're getting vastly better value for any headphones and gear that we buy.

I tried some $9000 IEMs in Singapore (the HEX), which are as, if not more sophisticated internally than most high-end speakers (6 different types of driver with a 10-way crossover), and they were better than the RAALs in some respects (bass!). We really have come a long way.

@Jason Stoddard
I have no doubt that the price increase is justified.

But with all this teasing and secrecy going around my mind instantly wonders which new features could have been added. Like a forkbearded micro brewery for instance.

This looks like a real brewery.

If you are ever in the San Antonio area, try Longtab or Gather. Both have insane food and beer. A simple Longtab helles will convert most who think, "Well, it's a light lager, how good can it be?"

To contribute, I'm up in SA next week, and hopefully we can get Valhalla 3 out to you soon. The boards shipped on Friday.

Also one other thing, a bit more complex...

Also...anyone saying digital is "solved" or "done" is gonna have a mind-reset of the highest order, sometime in the next 18 months. Sorry I can't be more specific on this, but I'm still reeling a bit from what we saw on Friday. Don't worry about other people doing this. I suspect we are the only high-end company capable enough, and dumb enough, to take this on.
Local Helles’ in Hill Country is a match made in heaven; I literally (*almost*) gave up big/heavy IPA’s during y 4 years down there, just too damned hot most of the time… but great Pilsners and Helles? Yah! Lots of great places from Fredericksburg to Blanco down to San Antonio, over/up through Grüne and San Marcos and up into/through Austin,

Your teasing sounds amazing and fascinating, guess I’ll “stand pat” on my Yggy for now and await the miracles! Please tell me at least that it’ll apply to Redbook CD type digital and not require BS stuff like SACD or…. (N.b. Aren’t you worried about “freezing your market” with such a long-term tease?)

PS: your gear is getting me through this hellish bout of Winter snow in mid-April… binging on LP’s via Stjärna, Kara and thence… No better Schiit when one has 20 cm of snow on the ground and a fire in the wood stove…
