Sorry, but Division Bell is NOT Pink Floyd. Without Roger Waters there is no Pink Floyd - no matter how good David Gilmour is.
We will agree to disagree.😏

Last few Halloweens we've been elsewhere. This time we were in, got candy. No T&Ts at all so far (7:30pm)
Us either. I heard a few kids out there but no one came and knocked. I think they all get in their cars and go to the rich people's houses around here. Middle class america isn't good enough for tricker treaters anymore.

Qobuz link

PSA since I'm in a Shostakovich mood today: Anyone who might be curious about a good-to-excellent full set of his 15 symphonies may be thrilled to know that this entire set by Mstislav Rostropovich can be bought from Qobuz for the Schiit-like price of $29. That's a buck-ninety per symphony and a downright bargain. 👍🏻

I have a few of the original Teldec CDs that comprise this reissued set, and I'm streaming the 13th on Qobuz as I type; the sound is lively and dynamic - fantastic horns!!! Rostropovich's technical skill as a conductor comes under scrutiny, apparently, but few can argue against his artistic merit, having been a friend of the composer and a leading authority on the interpretation of his works.
@sixergixer,

I meant to thank you earlier for this recommendation. Amazon delivered the 12 CD box set a few days ago. This is a very nice addition, wonderfully moody!

Yes… and… no…

It gets easier for me every year that Waters becomes ever more the dick head.

That is so great to hear! I have a huge soft spot for both Shostakovich and his friend Slava, so this compilation is a no brainer for me. ☺️

Wonderful music, and getting 12 CD's for the price of one LP isn't bad either!

I've been a metal head all my life.

re: MTV. Headbangers Ball was fun, although their playlist was limited. I worked in radio in San Jose CA in the 80's and early 90's and started an over-night extreme metal program called "Brain Pain." We prided ourselves in playing things no radio or MTV would touch - death metal, grind core, thrash, Scandinavian black metal, German noise and industrial metal, technical metal... the most commercial thing we ever played as something like Helloween. :)
Very cool! I grew up in the South, so it was quite difficult finding anything harder than hair metal on the radio. There was a college station that would play real metal (hardcore, thrash, etc...) but it was only like 2 or 3 hours a week. So I pretty much had to watch Hard 30/60 and Headbangers Ball for my fix of heavier stuff.

None? Sorry. I went through $75 worth of candy in an hour and a half. Lots of kiddos. Wasn't sure what to expect since this was our first Halloween here, but next year I apparently need more candy.
If you run out, you can dig into your tube collection. But then we’d all come knocking…

I think you need to work on the internal consistency of your story

I buy a lot of candy and give each kid as much as they can take with one hand. Usually one group of older kids comes around 845 or so and I let them have three hand fulls, and then I go pour a scotch and phuck around on the internet, like right now.

Gorgeous release from Maurizio Pollini performing some splendid Schubert. The Moments musiceaux is especially choice.
