Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Ya, I have a Sophia Electric 6SN7 and 6SL7. They're basically a copy of the Fullmusic 6SN7. Not a fan myself (for the price), I think the Psvane or Shuguang are better as far as expensive new stock goes.

There is cheap new stock for 6SN7 (Tung-Sol / Electro-Harmonix / JJ etc..) I tried the JJ / Electro-Harmonix and they weren't great.

That Psvane is so huge I doubt you can fit in in to the Freya/Saga's chassis.

I received 3 different 6sN7 tubes. Two of the same generics, and one each of what seemed like Russian NOS..recent vintage..one tube had 2001 printed on it.

The sound is coherent and lush...I am in no rush to put in the Tung Sols, but will after some break in.

Not to be rude, but is it possible to open a separate Freya thread? It's basically overtaken this one. Now that it's out, I don't see why it doesn't have its own thread yet...

I see your point. But I think the reason the Freya has been a huge topic here is that there simply is NO other competing product in the marketplace that is made in the USA with the parts quality and features.  As someone who has used tubed preamps for over a decade I can tell you that with absolute certainty.

Just wait for Vidar...

Nah, some new tubes are better than vintage of the same variety.  I've got some Shuguang Treasures and some Genelec Gold Lions that kick much ass.  Good tubes are just not as plentiful as they were back in pre-solid-state days.

Very interesting, which models specifically have you tried and liked? I don't plan on using NOS tubes on a daily basis but want to enjoy them when I'm in the mood for that "flavor". I'm waiting on a matched quad of new (2016) Tung Sol 6sn7gtb and would like to have some decent stock of new production tubes that sound good, that I don't feel bad using everyday.

Just my opinion, this thread is dedicated (in my view) to the evolution of Schiit Audio as a company and Freya is the latest company release so there will be a ton of talk about it as it is the latest in the company's evolution. I'm sure there will also be a dedicated Freya thread soon and this thread will move onto other topics like Vidar or the Manhattan or any of the other 2-3 very exciting endeavors Schiit is working to roll out this year :)

I currently use Gold Lion E88CC tubes in my Mjolnir 2 and Treasure 2A3 in my Shindo amp.  I also built a set of mono kit amps from ANK and loaded them with Treasure 300B's which sounded very nice - nice enough that I was able to sell them.  :)

I also think the Saga/Freya, and soon the Vidar, are absolute game changers for the company..so the fact they are dominating the thread is no surprise.

Makers of preamps that cost more than my annual property tax bill will have a lot to answer for.  But then again, reverse price prejudice may come into play.

Be happy there is a new piece of Schiit.  Between products this thread can quickly devolve into discussions of keyboards, watches, cars or even worse politics...

The audio jewelry crowd will never buy Schiit.

Those sound like great options. Are any of those 6sn7 tubes? From a quick search I'm seeing treasure CV181-T and CV181-Z as 6sn7. The T is more expensive so I'm assuming they are better??? Lol a matched quad costs almost as much as a quad of RCA red base (maybe, at least from my quick search).
