Schiit Audio Gungnir 2

Is there any difference in sound between RCA and XLR output? If yes, why do you think there is, after all that's exactly the same circuit just going to the dark side in phase. Plz ignore the noise part, suppose the RCA is 1 ft long and is properly shielded.
I have not tried the G2 w/ SE, my experience with the Gungnir MB A1 showed XLR having a clear advantage over SE - and in both cases its 4 volts vs 2. A reviewer on SBAF says XLR is better.

In a few weeks when my Wotan and Kara arrive my G2 will have XLR to Wotan for speakers (my preferred transducer) and SE to Rag 2 for cans.

I just received my Gungnir 2, and first impressions are.. great to say the least :) Vastly improved soundstage and the bass is way more separated ! Im currently using it with a Lyr+ and expecting my Mjolnir 3 early next week! Endgame in sight for me :) (at least until Singular G2, maybe?)
I have same positive feelings regarding g2! Mjolnir3 is great pairing with it. About this singular - what that will bring? From what i know g2 can be upgraded once this thing will be released

Its the delta-sigma tech that they are building the new Yggdrasil on.

"the first high-rate, high-bit-depth delta-sigma technology based on our own closed-form math"

Perhaps explains why Sch**t is not bothered with G2 sounding about as good as Yggy potentially cannibalizing the sales. Apparently they have something biggy that is punching into Holo May and suchs territory, leaving G2 pillaging alone its own price range competitors.

I prefer the MIB than the May KTE to be honest. May KTE on NOS seems to subdue the midrange lacking presence compared to Yggy MIB

Jason said in a recent livestream that they will work on the singular card for G2 and possibly bifrost 2 as well. But I would expect that it would be after the byggy release in August.
Next year.
Maybe.
No hard plans yet.

There are quite a few that think the Gungnir MB A1 > Yggy A1 & A2, and the G2 better than those 3 plus the LIM.

Interesting to see the Byggy and Singular board for the G 2.

Current setup is mjolnir3 with a Gungnir A1 (upgraded to Unison). I'm interested what the upgrade to Gungnir2 would sound like or if it's better to be looking into an yggy.

Better in what way though? These need qualifiers. As far as pure technicalities (plankton, imaging, microdynamics, etc) Gumby A1 is inferior to those DACs. I've owned all three. Enjoyment factor? That's purely personal, which is fine.

IMO G2 is arguably even with and different then the MIB. In all other existing Yggy vars I have the G2 better.

But the Byygy and Singular card in the G2 (whenever it comes) could/will change the hierarchy.

I had the Gungnir MB A1 with all 3 USB's over 9 years and never thought I'd change, but IMO the G2 isn't just 5% or 15% better, it's qualitatively better.

@ColtMrFire:

Gungnir MB A1 > Yggy A1 - read the threads related to both on HF, quite a few believe this. I had them both in early '16 and put them through very long evals, and the Gumby was more analog, more coherent, Yggy too cold.

The Yggy A2 I dislike, so the Gumby beats that, and others agree. My issue is its not coherent across the board - it seems to favor some FR over other, and the bass is way over the top.

The LIM is a bit like the Yggy A2 but a bit warmer and more coherent, but with too much bass, but not as much as the A2.

The MIB is a fair battle for the G2, and they beat all the DACs mentioned so far. It's honest with the timbre, and doesn't over do any area.

See post #451, #467, #524 for more @adydula and @theveterans (and others) also have insightful posts. As I mentioned @adydula has the best review.

Of course its best for you to decide for yourself.
