Question:
I just got the Schiit Asgard 2.  It literally just arrived and I have used it for 3 hours.

Is there a break in period?

I'm concerned also because it is getting hot..burning hot!  You literally cannot leave your hand on it.  I'm at 3 o'clock on the dial.  Also, just sitting there, when its not being used, it gets really hot....  I am also getting a lot of noise..buzzing sound

Meanwhile, I am comparing it to my 10 year old Musical Fidelity X-can v2.  Its the stock version.
I have it at 1 o'clock.  Its not getting hot, and is playing a lot louder, warmer sounding, better bass and better vocals.
I am not sure how they compare on power output, but here are the specs on the MF:
Musical Fidelity X-CAN v2
By: Musical Fidelity
Description: Tube headphone amplifier Specifications Output power Typically 1W Input impedance 47kOhms THD <0.015% 20Hz-20kHz unweighted <0.005% 20Hz-20kHz 'A' weighted S/N ratio >96dB unweighted ref. full output >108dB 'A' weighted ref. full output Frequency response 30Hz to 75kHz <+/-1.0dB Power requirement 12V AC 500mA (via mains adaptor supplied)

Can someone explain this?  Is the MF unit just a more powerful amp?

The Asgard 2 is a Class A amp.  That means it will run hot. (Schiit FAQ page says about 40-45°C or ~113°F)  What headphones are you using it with?

AKG 714 and Hifiman HE-400 are the headphones I was using.  But even just sitting there with nothing plugged in it runs super hot.

Also, here are the specs for the Asgard 2... how does they compare output wise?  The MF X-Cans are outputting a lot more and clean sound and no hiss at all.  Why would that be?

Frequency Response: 20Hz-20Khz, -0.1db, 2Hz-400KHz, -3dB
Maximum Power, 32 ohms: 1.0W RMS per channel
Maximum Power, 50 ohms: 1.0W RMS per channel
Maximum Power, 300 ohms: 380mW RMS per channel
Maximum Power, 600 ohms: 190mW RMS per channel
THD: Less than 0.008%, 20Hz-20KHz, at 1V RMS, high gain mode (worst case)
IMD: Less than 0.010%, CCIR at 1V RMS, high gain mode (worst case)
SNR: More than 102db, unweighted, referenced to 1V RMS, in low gain mode
Crosstalk: Less than -72dB, 20Hz-20KHz
Output Impedance: Less than 2 ohms
Gain: High = 6 (15.6db) or Low = 1.5 (3.5db), via rear switch
Topology: Fully discrete, single-ended Class A with single voltage gain stage, no overall feedback in high gain mode, 12dB feedback in low gain mode
Protection: Standard muting relay for delayed turn-on and fast turn-off
Power Supply: Internal power transformer with 4 separate power supply rails and over 20,000uf of filter capacitance
Power Consumption: 30W
