As part of our Hel Yeah headphone, dac/amp, microphone bundle we retuned our classic AEON Flow headphones, giving a more "Harmon Curve" response to the open, while boosting bass on the closed.

A lot of people have been asking for us to release just the headphone without the bundle, so voila! AEON Flow RT are now available on our store.

Originally $799.99, the AEON Flow RT Open and Closed headphones with your choice of dual 1/4-3.5mm or 4-pin XLR cables are now just $499.99, so for the first time our made-in-USA new headphones are available below $500, while supplies last.

What are the differences between the new re-tuned Open & the (Mass)Drop Open X?

The open are fairly close, probably +1dB on the X vs the RT above 4K, also we offer an XLR option and of course the closed model which is only available through us.

Are the closed 'Retuned' as well?

Yes, there’s a significant increase in bass output, 3-4dB. Kept the neutral mids but added
thump.

I wish but no; without lab equipment the probability is high that you could create a permanent bass channel imbalance. Also internal tuning materials wouldn't be the same. It's not cost-effective for us to do at the factory, either, because a large percent of upgrades would require re-matching channels which then requires the headphones to be broken down and parts intermixed, which is logistically a really wasteful and difficult process.

Great idea. Any other sonic changes in the AEON Closed RT besides the extra bass? Can they be driven off a smart phone? Thanks.

Yes, it's generally improved smoothness and clarity in the mids and highs, the new internal cup damping improves multiple aspects of the sound.

A good phone will drive it to moderate levels, it won't get "loud" and often bass won't hit as hard. But for background music while working, etc, it's adequate. I often use my phone when washing the car for convenience, for example.

Is this a super limited run or will these be available for a bit?

It's not super limited, but once the parts are gone that will be it. Nobody should feel they have to buy today or loose the chance.

I am looking to buy a new amp, and I'm very seriously considering a tube amp, in particular a Woo WA3. I'm kind of new to the realm of headphones and amps, so I'm curious if you know how these will sound when driven by a tubes?

The closed variant of these is interesting me, as my other two headphones are open(HD650, Fidelio X2HR), and my GF is constantly asking me to turn down the volume.

Thanks.

I haven't heard this one yet, and there are no specs for power on the Woo site, but I'm immediately concerned that it has an OTL design, and typically OTL amplifiers do much better with high-impedance dynamic headphones than with planars. If you can tell me your source, DAC, and what you're looking for sonically I may be able to point you to a good solid state, hybrid or tube match. Tubes are a little trickier since AEON impedance is down around 13 ohms you need to make sure the amp has the moxy to push the phones or you'll get mud and/or distortion.

This sounds super-interesting, they might be a good companion to my Aeon Open! How does the frequency response of the RT compare to the Aeon 2 @mrspeakers ?
