Whats the worst things that you've ever seen happen to a good pair of headphones? I've never seen anything terrible happen myself, but I just had the thought of some hd800s going out in the trash, in the rain, and getting soaked and utterly destroyed. I just got that sinking feeling in my stomach.

heh, it does not cover used items.  The majority of that gear was purchased used right here on head fi or else where with no proof of purchase, but ty, i feel the trade off was worth it.  I landed my dream job and wouldn't have been able to do so if that event had not happened :)

May I ask how?

Well aside from the actual breaking of them (reading what happened to KG's Stax made my stomach flip. I don't even know what I'd do if that happened to me), it's sad when I see stories of nice headphones (usually Grados) getting sold in estate sales. I mean sure, the new owner is happy, but I'd never sell something that nice (even if I had no idea about headphones, Grados look nice). I'd make sure it gets passed down to my kid or something.
