@kothganesh so you compensated for all of us. :)
I have demoed a DIY OTL amp with Hd6xx but was not impressed by it,  I could hear a hum even when nothing was playing.

Hello to all. Hope everyone is good. I had 3 sets of Ostry KC06 because I love mids on them It may seem strange I have FLC8s now, and the reviews mentioned great mids on them. Mids are good on FLC8S too but I simply loved the liquid mids on KC06. Can someone suggest Other IEM close to 400$ having great mid range? Will be grateful.

If anyone is coming down to Canjam SG and wants the Monolith M1060 headphones then do let me know! Lost interest in the 3 days between ordering them and having them reach me

Stumbled on this post by accident and super fun reading last few pages.

2 questions

1) all those who buy from Massdrop, how much duty our most beloved custom puts on them?
2) anyone tried DX200 dap (i know threads dedicated to headphones n IEMs but source are equally important, no?)

Thanks

Indian Customs is totally unpredictable.

Custom duty depends on what service you use - courier versus the post office. I do the bulk of my shipping with Fedex. Its typically 30% (duty that is). With the regular postal service, its all over the place. I've paid 8K for $2,200 worth of Geek equipment, zero for my Stax SR 009. I understand that the customs department for the postal service is different from that used by the couriers (within the same building in Chennai at least).

I think due to cost factor Massdrop uses cheaper shipping options, thus it involves our postal service for final delivery. With fedex I also had better experience, customs is within 26-30% on declared value.

Private companies abide by the rule hence 30% consistent excise duty. Whatever the gov employees decide the custom value become legitimate. Before ordering HD6XX I had asked a guy in Bangalore who had purchased AKG 7XX from massdrop about duty he paid...nothing at all. For HD6XX, I was charged about 5k, a few guys in Delhi were charged 2.5k and then in other city they reported upto 7k.

@rikk009  - Also my feeling is depending on brand they are aware off they charge more duty, unknown brand might go under the radar. I bought a 2000INR zippo and they levied 1800INR duty on it. Thus my worry about Massdrop, yes as many mentioned smaller items might get away from any duty.

DX200 is a big box and i think i would again be at their mercy, if officer's wife had a fight with him in the morning he might go bezerk totally.  I am aware of DX thread but rather get it in India or via someone who is coming over. However 900$ + 50$ for shipping and then unknown amount of customs make me think hundred times.

Thank you all for the reply :).

Buy from ibasso directly and ask them to declare lower price on the package. Otherwise wait for other chinese sellers to get the stock and then ask them to declare lower price. I bought many things from china with reduced declared price and they did not ask for customs.
