I’d rather have a $200 fuse missing than a set of VC’s! Yikes
On a positive note, the RFT foil getters are sounding better and better as I get more time on them! Actually, not sure if it’s strictly the tubes. I’m still breaking in the VC Blackwoods. Could be a combination of both. When the SR purple shows up, it should be the icing on the cake!
So, USPS tracking says package was delivered, handed to adult at address. Problem, no one was home at my address today and no package left that I can find. I'm a little pissed
I had this happen for a tubes delivery. I waited for a week and after they didn't show up, I started a complaint process with USPS online. I never heard from them (they were supposed to call), but a couple of days later, the status changed from "delivered" to "vacant/returning to sender". The sender did eventually get the package back.
If you know the phone number of your local post office, I'd try calling them -- that has worked also in the past.
VC's are back in the house and hooked up to my RH-5 and man o man I sure did miss this sound. As much as I love my Atticus with the RH-5, the VC's really are on another level.
On another note, my Audio Envy Ocean Elite 3p power cable just got delivered as well, and I have it hooked up and burning in. First impressions of this cable paired up with the RH-5 are very very promising. . .
I have been in investment management (fixed income/money-markets/municipals) for 42+ years…(and remember the day in 2018 when GE was ejected from the DJIA after being there continuously since 1907…)

I've been very busy with work. Not much time to listen to headphones. I'm doing a little comparing right now. I'm comparing the RH-5 with RFT foil getters and the SR Purple fuse upgrade to my Pendant SE. Prior to the RFTs and fuse, I felt the RH-5 lacked a little in the mid range and definitely not as holographic as the Pendant. Well, the midrange has filled out a little (Pendant is still more forward in the mid range) and that beautiful holographic effect of the Pendant is now there in the RH-5 as well! Sound stage and clarity are pretty much equal. The Pendant is more powerful with 300 ohm cans and plays exponentially louder, but I don't listen that loud so it's a moot point for me. I'm listening on my Auteurs with a single ended ZMF 2K copper cable. I have a balanced 2k copper cable, I'm just too lazy to switch cables tonight. It might make a difference with the RH-5 using balanced out. Since I bought my RH-5 as a demo model at a discount, even with the fuse upgrade and tube purchase I'm below list price! 2 awesome amps!
I have been contemplating having holes cut into (or removal of) the mesh above the tubes so that socket savers for the ECC82s / 12AU7s could be used. This would extend socket / tube life and enable ‘rolling’ without having to remove screws and the cover.
LOL! Yes, it can be challenging. I usually do mine on the kitchen counter and spread a towel underneath first, keeps those little buggers from hitting and bouncing off the countertop into another dimension.
So, it's been a week since I hooked up the Audio Envy Ocean Elite 3p power cable to my RH-5 and I can say with confidence that this cable doubles down on all the sonic gains of the SR Purple fuse. The background got blacker, the stage has become even more holographic, detail, texture and impact increased and as a result the sound is more lifelike with my VC's. For reference the previous power cables I had on the RH-5 were Audioquest NRG-Z3, and Pangea AC14SE mkII. The RH-5 really lets you hear the slightest change to your system and it's ability to scale with better gear including cables and fuses is for real.
Last night while listening with my VC's, the holographic stage and speed was so intense I got a bit dizzy at times, and the impact/bass hit so hard I thought I was going to blow the drivers at one point and had to turn down the volume. You can feel the control/grip this amp has on the drivers, and the bass does not bleed into the mids and only slams when called for. Of note, the tubes I am using are Funkwerk Erfurt ECC82 (Earliest Version Single Getter Post Foil Getters from 58'), of which play a big part as well. This amp truly is a beast, and really deserves to be paired with good gear and used balanced in and out.
