I don't know if there are such posts on head-fi. In Russia we have at least two specialists, who make such modifications. One of them currently does it for money. HM-601 rarely break after they've solved the button problem. I voided my warranty support when I first tried Rockbox (the first version) on HM-601.
I still doubt that all in one chips can sound better than modified HM-601.

The mods sound interesting. If you could post indeph directions on how to impliment the mod then I may consider undertaking such a feat.
Let's just put it this way, while I consider my ibasso DX100 superior to the Studio V, from a musical enjoyment factor I still don't consider the ibasso a night and day difference from the V. You factor in the portability, long battery life, and ease of use with tactile buttons, I consider the Studio the better portable option. Although the V does have its weak points, hiss being the big one.
