Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

The Anker Powercore II 6700 is a great battery charger for the QP1R or QP2R. It does 5V/2A, which is the max input for the QPxRs. It is also small.

It was free. Not now. I tried and was told buying a refurbished QP1R was a much better option than sending mine to China and back for the battery. The $400 price obviously is inflated due to travel from the USA to China and back. I imagine it would be free for a new purchase that is still within warranty.

Not very useful recommendation on their part, considering that there will likely be zero refurbished units available if it costs $400 to do so (outside of China anyway). Or maybe I'm missing something.

Jeez, ok. I'm gonna have to think about this then. Thanks for the info.

Another thought: Maybe I could just pretend it's not a portable device and leave it plugged in most of the time. Is that bad for it at all?

I contacted Bruce Ball with this question and he does not know as he has not tried it. I would just suggest using it as a portable DAC as it gets 8+ hours on battery. You could have an Anker PowerCore II 6700, which is small and only $25.99 at Amazon. It is capable of powering the QP1R for another 14 hours worth of charges. That would give you 22 hours, which is more than anyone would need in a single day. I am getting that same battery for my QP2R as in is a lot smaller than my current batteries that are really overkill.

Just ordered this for my QP2R. It is much smaller than my 10,000 and 22,000 mah batteries, but the perfect size for the QPxR DAPS and others in my opinion if wanting to pack light.

So what, you leave it plugged into one of these portable batteries you're saying? Is that any better for the internal battery than a wall charger? It seems the same to me (but I'm a lowly mech engineer, not an EE).

I only use it when charging is needed. I do not keep it plugged in if the QP1R battery is still working. You could try it either way though. If at home, I charge it with a wall charger.

No more firmware updates....

Are they done with firmware updates for this model?
I'm wondering about the possiblity of jump-to-a-letter search ability.

You can use the capacitance button to quickly skip to the page you want and use the wheel to select the artist or song on that page.

I'd say 'yes', as they're about to release their 3rd new player. If you want to search by letter, just simply create alphabetized folders spanning your two cards, as I have done since the FiiO X5 1st gen.
If it's any consolation, Questyle couldn't deliver the folder play-through feature, that would have meant less jumping manually from album to album, in an artist folder. FiiO was able to do this, by the way. But QP1R is miles ahead in SQ.

QP1r pairs really nicely with the Tin Hifi P1 at between 25-30vol. f/w1.08

That is correct.

I really wish they would change the artwork display to show the entire album cover rather than cutting it off.
