Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
Oct 28, 2016 at 9:28 PM Post #3,421 of 7,140
My test of DAPs has recently become, do cymbals sound like real cymbals. At the grand age of 58 last year I joined a rock band. My one regret in life, giving up guitar when I was 17 after 6 months playing. I stand every week next to a drummer and cymbals are crisp, almost brash. Nearly every other DAP other than the QP1R makes them sound cosy and refined. Thank goodness we have a product that is not rolled off or has squashed dynamics.

Please let me know when you have recorded song(s) - I would love to hear your band!

Ah cool, old guys rule. I miss playing with my drummer son now that he is gone away to school. Your singer is great! Get It On was fun.

Thanks Husa! Yeah, I'm not the oldest, and funny enough, the drummer is the bassists's son. Some things you enjoy more when you think you have missed your chance.

About the QP1R in the car, you just have to use a 3.5mm stereo out. My wife and I agree that it makes the factory stereo (with upgraded speakers) in our Subaru sound better then playing the disc it was ripped from. It just has a crisp, clean, powerful sound. All electronics vary so that may be an odd result but it works for me!

Awesome, thanks for the links!  Listened to all of your videos on your channel...one of my favorites is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ2ct9FCLYo, called Nutbush City Limits.  The tambourines remind me of my childhood each week in church!

Congrats to all of you!

Thanks. Much appreciated.

I was looking for a cool ping pong .gif to reply with (since we've talked all things ping pong), but I like this one, so here it goes:

Then, I saw this one, and just had to post it for a laugh this weekend:

Generally there's added buffers and circuit (transcoding up to 32 bit float and back down plus dither added) involved so on a resolved piece of kit, it can often be noticed.

Now, don;t go and cloud the debate with facts!

Somebody thinks using the EQ is making sound quality worse?

What is the reason you are EQing? If you are making some very slight adjustments to fix an issue you may be finding with the FR of your headphones, then this should be perfectly fine and shouldn't have any obvious noticeable effect. If however you have a headphone with let's say a flat FR and what you really want is some basshead phones, then you would be better off buying phones that are better suited to your needs. Equalisation is not a magic wand

Well, since it was brought up, is there software to bring a file down from 32-bit FP to 24-bit?   I have wav files I'd like to convert to flac, but they're 32-bit.
Thanks.

I use JRiver Media center.

It's super easy to transcode the files to Flac.

Personally I'd go 16bit as I really don't hear a difference with 24bit, but that's just me
