Unfortunately I can't get a hold of a ATH IM70 that ships to Norway. Only one I can find is the IM50. I've looked a little bit different places, like ebay, amazon and cdjapan. You know anywhere else to shop? Or do you know of any headset as good as the IM70 for the price?

You might ask @peter123 where he got his from. He's in Norway, I believe. The IM70 and GR07 are my favorite at the $100 mark, but there are a lot out there I haven't heard.

I bought mine from J-Made from Amazon. They are quite fast and reliable.

I would pick EPH-100 from your list for more sub-bass.

I have all of those and I prefer the EPH-100 above all because of its fun and easy-going sound SQ, combined with the straight-barrel design for better fitting (for me). About the IM70 and FXT90, I like both of their signatures, but I prefer FXT90 over the IM70 because the fit is greater, it's good on its own, and buying 'outside' ear tips isn't needed. The IM70, on the other hand, doesn't have good ergonomic cuz of that bulky design so I had to buy another eartips and add the 'ring' from cut-up sony hybrid stems to make it wear-able.

I think the IM70 will serve you well with all of those. Treble is a bit smooth for classical but the spatial presentation and layering is great with it.

Haven't heard the EPH, but I'd take the IM70 over the FXT90. Much smoother treble and better soundstage. Also, ozkan makes it seem like the IM70 is bass light. They're anything but. If the IM70 isn't bassy to someone, I'd have to say they're a bona fide super basshead, lol. That clip you linked will sound just awesome with the IM70.

Really appreciate your guys' input. I've started my own recommendation thread to take this discussion to the appropriate place.

And @ZapX629, great review on the IM70s, very well-written!

Have anyone tested this cable yet? Tried to search but didn't find anything.

Is it as good as this? Or does the added microphone make the audio worse.

What is the difference between 6N OCC and 5N OFC?

I should have the IM04 next week, ordered it yesterday. I have the other two.

Do you find the IM-03 a good compliment to the FX850s?

I have the FX and was actually looking to either get IM03/04 or the XBA Z5 so would appreciated some comparisons when you get the IM04. At the moment currently considering the IM03 first, Z5 second. I like sony's sig but it's almost not portable per se.. haha

Thanks!

Well, my IM02 came in th mail today. Will update with impressions as I listen.

Edit: first impression is that they're fairly forward, which is good. Bass is a tad mid centric, but it seems adequate overall. I didn't realize how small they'd be though.

EDIT: Ok, here are my impressions thus far:

TL;DR The IM02 are better than any other IEM I've tried and are a very welcome portable compliment to my HE-4

Eartips used: Comply M tips that came with the IEMs. All of the Silicon tips are trash IMO.

Bass: Very clear, deep reaching overall. Definitely less presence than my FS Atrio M5, but that's to be expected since those are dubbed the 'Sub Bass Kings.' The quantity is definitely acceptable and, honestly, preferred in most situations and the quality is very high as well. Bass is definitely not one-notey.

Mids: Not forward, like a good IEM should. TBH, I didn't notice the mids, which is probably a really good thing. They were there, not recessed but also not too prevalent, which took away some warmth from the IEM but in a good way. These definitely aren't a warm, relaxed, veiled IEM, but they definitely aren't a Grado either.

Treble: Very nice. Vocals are very clear and the treble overall sparkles. I don't think I've heard any sibilance at all so far, so props to AT. Cymbals can be a bit too forward in some recordings, but not enough so to be distracting.

Really, this IEM in some ways reminds me of my HE-4, just with less resolution and openness. They aren't quite as forward as the HE-4, but they certainly aren't veiled either.

The IM02 are definitely here to stay, and were exactly what I was looking for, as far as I can tell right now. Thanks all for your additional suggestions, even though I kinda went against the grain and grabbed the IM02 anyway.

Still no one on this?

Ordered some IM70's today throughout accessoryjack. Can't wait to have them!

I've got the first one and I'm very happy with it. Much better ergonomics than with the memory wire (YMMV), soft and flexible material. The mic is also great quality.

Haven't heard the other one though....
