REVIEW: JMoney Audio Genuine Leather earpads for Beyer DT770/880/990

One thing I don't quite understand is how it's possible that JMoney's pads are for 770/880/990, but beyerdynamic's pads are specifically for either 880/990 or 770.

I really want these.  I wish they would become available again.

Anyone have a chance to try these with the DT770 250 ?  I noticed the less-than-glowing review from Skylab on the 600...

I'm interested too.  Will the bass find a happy medium between the 250 and 600 ohm velour padded versions?

Hopefully Jeremy will find a supplier soon so someone can find out.

I've had my pair of JMoney Beyerdynamic pads for my 880 600 ohm for about 5 days now.  I noticed an immediate improvement in soundstage and clarity.  Everything sounds a lot more open and less confined.  I didn't notice a big difference in bass which was a little letdown.  Overall I am pleased and it was worth the purchase for a slightly used pair.

Me, too.  I would very much like to buy a pair of leather pads for my DT880s.

I've tried emailing J$, signing up on HF lists, and posting in the official buy list.  No luck.  Can't get a peep back from J$.

Suggestions will be much appreciated.

Got an automated email from JMoney re: Beyer Pads.

Hello there,
Thanks for your email. We appreciate your interest
in our products. We have been getting a lot of orders for our Beyer
and Denon pads. Just to give some information, we are currently still
working on a new version but are having major problems along the way
that we hoped to have solved a while ago.

Since we are still not ready, we are releasing some info on these products.

1) Beyer V2 lambskin pads:

-Softer leather being used
-thicker pads

2) Denon V3 Pads

-Softer material being used
-Softer foam
-BIGGER PAD. This will require the addition of a plastic molded piece
which will be included with the purchase.
-This plastic piece is one of the problems we are having in terms of
time due to the fact that we need to make the parts.

thanks for your continued support and patience. We will be giving away
some freebies randomly to customers placing orders when we are ready.

regards

Based on your enthusiastic review, Skylab, I hope the new pads aren't too different than the ones that you tried out. They will be thicker than yours which may affect the sound in a different way than you reported. Can't wait to try them though...

I asked a UK distributor of Beyerdynamic products and spare parts similar question. The question was whether these pads designed for DT770 will fit on DT880 and DT990.

I just received an email telling me that these pads where designed for DT770 but they WILL fit DT880/990. I am quite sure the situation with other pads designed for PRo versions only, only DT770 etc will also fit 'audiophile' DT880/990. They seem to have the same diameter (based on photos) so I see no reason why they would not fit. Based on that and the email I'd assume all versions of DT770 pads would fit DT880/990. That is an assumption though so dont quote me.

If you live in Europe you might get pads designed for DT770 with holes e.g.

I didnt ask however if exactly these pads will fit on DT880/990. Again however, I dont see any reason why ear pads from the previous link will fit on DT880/990 and why the ones from the second one will not.

Bear in mind this applies only to the situation in UK. I have no idea what pads for Beyers you can find in US.
