Hi once again. Your prompt and very informative responses have enticed yet another question

How would you describe the AH-D5000's "lightness of foot"? I guess it is a tough question to describe, but essentially it's refering to its detail and speed, and rythym. I am particularly intrigued due to the great bass delivery you speak about - which can sometimes tie down a headphone's speed and swiftness. Hope the question makes sense

I understand the question, and I think this is what makes the AH-D5000 so good! They are indeed very "fast" sounding.

Nice write up Skylab! If you are going to the meet I'd love to hear these.

Thanks. I guess. Sort of.
My wallet just gave up hope.
Not even screaming any more.
It is just softly moaning now.
Terminal I'm afraid.

Thanks.

By the way guys....wanted to let you all know that the cheapest price for these now seems to be Audiocubes. They were very expensive a few days ago (full RRP of $699 if I recall correctly), but it seems it has dropped dramatically to $529!

Wow, that is pretty tempting. I really want these things... I just wish there were more opinions on them first, thats still a big chunk of change.

Might I suggest a "Group buy" ????

The stateside pricing as of yesterday: "Nonavailability" seems to be best of $492 with shipping "googled".... Vs. Audiocubes shipped for 'bout $50 more...

I too wonder if that'll drop........

Is the Denon D2000 the same thing (except plastic)?

That must be metal not "plastic".

Internals are the same, D5000 has some purer cooper cable.
Based on what I collected so far they are very close except that D5000 are heavier on bass and less analytical (warmer?) than D2000.

Hard to get it right from google Japanese translation.

I think D5000 price will drive down to lessen the gap between two models.

D2000 must be better then, because aluminum resonates less than wood.

The superior headphone housing used in the AH-D2000 to produce high quality sound is made of materials yielding exceptional acoustic characteristics ensuring faithful reproduction of the original sound. Compound metal is used to increase density, making the sound more stable and clear.

We'll see soon.
