Was using amped on xonar dg. Now it broke and I have to use onboard... It sounds almost the same to say the truth. Maybe little bit quieter and realtek adds its own white noise... But no difference in warmth

So my headband (cupholders specifically) has started to crack just after 3 months of use. I've taken extreme care of these things and this still happened. :S

Anyone know how I can stop it from breaking apart further?

@TehGeek - have you tried contacting Brainwavz, or the dealer you bought them from?  Are they still within warranty?

I think I will hold onto my stock hm5 pads and not get thicker replacements. (Sorry lepperman)
But I do want to get some audio card, dac or something. My asus xonar dg broke week ago and now I am using my realtek. To say the truth I was expecting worse sq but It's time to get something new.

Was thinking about asus xonar u7, creative x-fi hd or maybe some fiio products like e10k.
I just want something with volume knob and speaker output on the back. line in for xbox would hurt too...
But I've heard that e10k makes hm5 warmer and bassier. Is that true? that would be great since they could use some more bass in certain situations
edit:Ordered fiio e10k. looking forward to it and going deaf !
now need to get zirconia stand

Hey guys, anyone here own both the HM5 and the Q701 or AKG K701-702? Do you know if the HM5 pads will fit the AKG? I'm looking for new pads for the AKG Q701 and stumbled on the set on MP4Nation. They insist that the HM5 pads will fit the Q701 but most people on the Q701 impressions thread says otherwise.

Thanks for the help.

I have a question about the HM5 pads.

I had a pair of NVX angled pads in the past which if found too squishy which caused a suction/plunger effect when I put them on my head.

Are the HM5 pads any firmer than the NVX pads, or are they about the same.

The thick HM5 pads that they sell are quite nice. I thought the original ones were nice too, but the thick ones are definitely the way to go.

how to add a little more bass ?
I am already using e10k and super thick pads btw.

I love the headphones but sometimes You want some overpowering bass. As it is, the bass is where it needs to be. Punchy and accurate. It's not leaking etc

Guys,
I have both stock and extra thick pads.
But with both clamping is way too much. I can feel my blood pumping around my ears and ears get very hot.

Hot to stretch it, without damaging cup holders and ruining pads by having it stretched over a ball or something
edit: And I've never been burning them. Been using them for a year no more than 2h at the time. Does that counts ?

Heres the HD650 headband in action with the HM5 cups. You can order the HD600 headband at sennheisers parts and spares service but it costs round 90€ here in Europe so should be around 90 dollars in America, although you could always pick up spare parts from the HD580 at Ebay or Craigslist. Parts Nr. from Sennheiser: 059570
