The case on mine is definitely not steel, I tested it with a magnet. But this is a completely handmade product, so it is possible that things changed as Tor-Arne made these.

Sub bass mostly, but maaaybe a tad of warmth overall in bass.. I won't say for sure. It sounds a bit laid back compared to something like the schiit magni as its highs are less piercing. After owning it for some time, blackness, dynamics and control is what I'd say this amplifier has in spades.

I will also say that if you plan on using headphones with a 3.5 to 1/4 converter, the headphone out doesn't seem to like that. I have zero issues with regular 1/4 jacks, but minijack to 1/4 doesn't work properly on my unit. For me, thats not really a problem. For some that might be a huge problem.
