So I'm new here, and new to DACs. I bought the Audioengine D1 and after tinkering w/ settings (to 24/96), I find it sounds no better than the headphone out in my HP DV7 laptop when hooked up to my home system (NAD T763 running KEF reference series speakers). My old Sony CD changer sounds much brighter and fuller. I did, however, notice that my Audio Technica ES-W9 cans sound better when running the D1.
So can anyone recommend anything I can do to get the D1 sound better thru my home system or should I simply send the D1 back and replace it with an HRT Music Streamer II? Please help!
If you are using a PC you'll need to install software/drivers to bypass the windows mixer, maybe ASIO4ALL or ASAPI or something. I'm a Mac user, so I can't advise more detailed than that.
