Removing driver-protecting fabrics on HD800 seems make sound better...

What do you guys constantly pull/drill/glue bits, on and off your expensive Headphones?

The headphones are carefully engineer to provide a specific comprimise with the design, such that the overall effect is as good as is possible. EG, the silk screen, or foam padding in the drivers, its there for very good reasons. The above post is an excellent explaination BTW.

Why not adjust the treble/bass on your amp or buy different 'phones.???

Sometimes i wonder.....

Because our amps don't have tone controls, and we like 99% of the qualities of the headphone but feel it could use some minor tonal adjustments.

Oh I see. Thank you.
It didn't look like silk to me at first but more like the external texture of the rubber.
But now taking a closer look at it, it does look like a very thin and transparent layer of silk on top of the driver.

Yes, the cloth does dampen both the treble and bass.
The treble does become more detailed and clear. It's more livelier and the treble takes longer to decay. Shimmers longer.

Funny thing is, the bass also increases. Not by much but it's noticeable also.
A good improvement.

do you need to replace it sometime around? because I noticed my sound is vibrating or bass and treble becomes muffled or artefacted with weird noises , the more I move the dust cover protector it changes or disappear. would replacing it to brand new fix that? because I still had hair inside and I clean it but if feels like it's still not perfect like before

because this dust cover cost like 15 euros
