So far I've had the bass up to 2nd setting on the 4g but that may be because I'm desperate for a bass fiX and still not sure on my preferred sound Sig. Been experimenting with the treble settings, two seems too harsh but may use it at one.

I should also stress that most of my listening has been while working at my desk so haven't had much just to concentrate on/appreciate the sound.

It'll take a while for your head to adjust to the sound (I don't believe in 'burn in' at least not to the extent others do). I had problems with the sound of my C3 albeit for not that long (it was a preset thing).
 
I loved my headphones from the start but didn't like how they sounded with any sort of rock so got my E11K to give it a bass kick. I rarely use the bass boost now that I've got used to the sound. The fact that you like them already is a very positive sign IMHO.
