I still don't know what you're trying to do. You said how you want to do it, you didn't say what you want.

1. streaming services?
2. local files? if so, what kind?
3. transport only or with DAC and analog out?
4. can you wait until RPi comes back in stock?
etc...

I need ethernet connection to NAS. No streamingservices is needed. Just DLNA

Select RPi > right click > ''search..'' is so convenient ; )

What about the iFi Zen Stream? It's described as able to connect to NAS.
That one looks interesting. it also has coax output.

I posted a link to an Allo box upthread (I think...) but they're still out of stock. The Zenstream would probably be ok but check the device thread here, not everybody has success.

If you want only dlna then you probably don't want to stream even DSD? For example, minidlna doesn't support it.

For what you want I would suggest a cheap RPi based streamer when they come back in stock.

We just posted at the same time. I won't be able to look at your link until later, gotta heapa work to do now.

Ifi zen stream is a neat device for a SQ that it provides. I would avoid to connect NAS directly to a streamer by any means...Pushed it over the network and you are free of any noise entering your streamer

I have a Baaske 1005MI(network isolator) connected to a switch, this switch connects all deviced. To this switch the streamer will be connected. So it is not directly end to end

I'm not sure how this Baaske 1005MI is efficient, but for sure your NAS will be noisy. Will it reflect in sound degradation only testing can tell. I'm an advocate of simple and clean source instead of chunking PC's, Storage, Ethernet and then adding purifiers, isolators on top to clean the signal. The more stuff you can do over wifi the better

There is no perfect solution and what is noisy is going to depend on implementation and specific gear. I never use wifi for audio or video.

Back to which streamer, this https://allo.com/sparky-eu/digione-player.html or this https://allo.com/sparky-eu/digione-signature-player.html when they come back in stock, with a good PSU, will be a top choice for playing files off a NAS. One of the reasons high quality streamers are expensive is that a good analog system costs money to design and implement. It's much better and cheaper to make a streaming transport like these, connect it to a good DAC like your RME over coax, and you're fine with 24/192 and DSD 64 (128 can work, depends on the chain)

Thanks! But just to clarify, by direct connection you mean a RJ45 wire between a NAS and streamer?

Those allos reminds of another pi solution:
https://www.pi2design.com/pi2aes.html

Have you heard of this one?

It is very popular with Volumio
Yes, it looks good but unless I missed something they're out of production for a while and you're gonna have to import it if he starts making them again. I don't remember if he sells just the hat (card) or also turnkey pi player with his hat installed.

Allo has an EU shop and both turnkey players with coax out look cheaper than pi2aes, but I would have to double check.

If you didn't get the pro version of the RME, you have no AES/EBU input, so how are you planning to use pi2aes?
