This this video doesn't make you go out and buy Highlighter than I'm not sure what will:

Thes talks a lot about the sound quality of the album, which I can vouch for being amazing.  Especially if you get the 24-bit AAC version.

Best thing in the last year? I dunno man, it sounds might similar to a lot of other **** that's been thrown out lately.

I'm not into Odd Future at all, but this guy is an exception... he's like a young MF Doom.

Sorry for your loss I guess.  It's an absolute masterpiece in my opinion.  It's the first time I've felt like Thes has gotten away from his "backpack" roots without losing the "underground" edge that keeps die hard PUTS fans loyal... tough balance.

EDIT:

Going back through the album here are my top tracks:

1 - "Self Destruction" -- Once you get past the 1st minute of BS, the rest of the track is an amazing way to open up the album.
3 - "Can't Hold It Back" -- Chopping styles that remind me a bit of 9th Wonder, with a beautiful mix of wonderfully layered groove samples.
4 - "Talkin' Back To The Streets" -- that Rakim sample gives me chills.  It takes me back to The 18th Letter album every time I hear it.
9 - "Foolish People" -- Straight-up bringing back the art of story telling.  A lost art in today's Hip-Hop.
10 - "Ascension to Nowhere" -- Talk about inginuity, trying to rap over something other than a 4/4 beat.  Very cool.
16 - "Mean Spirited" -- A Nirvana homage played by studio musicians, mixed with some dope synth samples that are not a PUTS staple.  Come on... pure fire!

One the best Hip-Hop groups that really never was.  The producer is Hudson Mohawke, who has gone on to make a couple of descent Electro Hip-Hop albums, but nothing that was near as good as Lucky Me.

That is a respectable list.  I may not agree with the order, but the names are definitely on top.  I'm moving towards some of the new-era-underground stuff lately, but all of those names are veterans in the game.
