Watched Oblivion. I read the critic reviews just for the fun of it and it was so predictable what they say. 
I give it an 8/10. Some big unanswered questions in the end but okay it´s pretty logical otherwise except for the big unanswered questions.
Visually impressive nice score. A bit Tron Legacy over the looks and sound. Very cold and sterile but it fits better here then in Tron Legacy which I really didn´t enjoy. Not a worthy successor to Tron much due to the the sterile part.
 
Sadly it´s not shown in 3D but for 2D it´s about as 3D as I have seen a movie. Wonder if they play with some ambient occlusion tricks or something.

Watched these on a tiny in-flight screen so my take is not how I feel it might have played out over a proper big screen but rather my - subjective - personal experience:
 
Zero Dark Thirty (6/10)
 
Not being American (as in a citizen of USA), this film did not carry me along the way as it might have for a more interested audience. I didn't particularly empathise or sympathise with the lead actress as she just came across as a little too self-absorbed; and I suspect the film was trying to paint an objective view of the whole 'war on terror'; so it felt more like bits and pieces - where the film drops in example after example of uncut torture techniques and the like, ostensibly giving the message: "hey, we've got nothing to hide; we don't do it cause we like to but we do it cause we got to". Perhaps an American might have felt some of that residual pride surging from within while watching the movie but for me it did nothing, at least on this front.
That being said, if I ignore what sentiments i have about the above, I'd give the movie maybe an 8/10 for the rest of it.

Similar sentiments as above, as I could not connect with the whole American-ness of it (which is not necessarily a bad thing, for pandering to a global audience just results in more movies like Transformers - fun to watch, but that's probably it).
Whether it was cognitive biases from reviews and the oscars, or whether it was my own objective opinion, I really felt at the end of it that the lead actor delivered a superb, honest performance (my rating is based mainly on this). I also liked how the film went deep with the details when it mattered (so many films these days are just so stingy with detail), like the intricacies of legislating. 
 
Cloud Atlas (7/10)
 
So much potential in this film, but it failed to live up to it.
I was left trying to connect the dots when it ended (forgive my less than rapid processing of details).
I was hoping for it to leave me with a sort of pensive mood - which is nice sometimes - but it didn't; I just felt rather let down that the film really did not hit any climax for me, nor did it close very well. I think this is a case of a film where it could have done with more depth. It contrasts with the book Hyperion (and the Fall of Hyperion) where the interconnectedness was much more vivid and easy to reach for the reader; and where everything dovetailed in such a climactic manner. Cloud Atlas was perhaps too subtle for my tastes.
 
Skyfall (6.5/10)
 
I really like Bond films, so far they've always been very safe bets when deciding what to watch. You go in there knowing what to expect.
Yet Skyfall paled in comparison to the previous ones I've watched (e.g. Casino Royale). 
I would have preferred more action, more gadgets, and more intensity (a faster tempo) that grips the viewer (like watching the new Batman series).
Everything in the film was decent, I just did not like the castle defence part (so unlike Bond).

I've got practically the same impressions on these movies. I would add that Cloud Atlas deserved to have been noticed by the Oscar committee but it was completely ignored for some reasons. I think it was better than some other nominations like IMO amateurish and raw Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Amateurish? Uhm, well duh it had a budget of like $100 and had non-professional actors. Can you do better?
For a 1st movie from a new director it's a nice start.

I avoided this for some reason. I hate how our stupid brains come up with all these crazy ideas on what a movie would be like before even reading any reviews or knowing much about it. So many good movies i've skipped due to things like this. For example I avoided "Lawrence of Arabia" for 10 years because I thought it'd be boring.
 
It took me awhile to warm up to this. It didn't start out too well and then I started liking all the characters. The whole movie for me was pretty entertaining and I liked how they didn't seem to rush through it all. Some scenes were a bit too hard to believe.
 
I haven't been this entertained since "Company of Heroes". That movie was entertaining as hell, but more like a video game. I wanted to punch myself in the face after viewing it and finding out it was based on a video game. Oh well, still liked it.
 
The Amazon non-HD version of the Hobbit has crappy audio and video quality. Wait for it on Redbox! I'd buy it for $20 on blu-ray and could watch it again.
 
This one reminded me a lot of some of my old favorite RPG video games back when I was a kid. It even reminded me a bit of "Dragon Warrior 4" and "Dark Souls" (the giant rock throwers). Some of it's creativity reminded me of "The Labyrinth".
 
BTW does anyone remember the old "Red Wall" book series? Don't know what in this movie reminded me of that. Maybe all the food scenes. I still have good memories of "Martin the Warrior".

Yeah, but it was nominated for Oscar as one of the best movies of the year instead of other movies which deserved it like outstanding "The Master". Anyway I didn't like it, it was a torture to watch and it didn't touch me on emotional level.
