I saw Chronicle a few days ago.  I went to the theater looking to see The Grey but a certain ladyfriend doesn't take the whole time thing very seriously.  Anyway we both enjoyed it.  The concept is good, the acting is solid.  At times it seems a little bit like a 'hey wouldn't it be cool if we had magic powers? we could do: this, and this, and this! and this! and this!"   I read that it was done on $15 million and for that I have to say the CGI was impressive.  The ending was a little predictable but well executed.  It had my friend tearing up a bit and me thinking about how I would have handled that situation.  Overall I'd say its a fun way to spend 80 minutes.

I wish I walked out on The Passion of Christ.  I went into it thinking it was a historical epic about Jesus so I kept waiting for the "story" to start.  I didn't realize it was really just masochist porn and after enduring 2 hours of gruesome disgusting violence and torture, the movie just ended!  What  Afterwards I felt about the same way I felt after watching "2 girls one cup"

Chronicle was ok. I enjoyed the CGI but the story was lacking in a lot of places.

If you ever watch them watch the Craig version first as it's the weaker of the 2, IMO.

Still sticking by what I said earlier about Craig. Dead face. Has the emotional range of a rock.

Haven't seen the film adaptations but figured the scene/s that would've turned you off. The book wasn't a bad read. Not sure how it'd translate to the screen though. 007 wannabe Craig is not how I pictured the protagonist though. Stupid Hollywood.

I watched the Fincher adaptation. As anticipated, the novel did not translate well to film. The sordid family history was merely glossed over, the characters were wooden and there was no tension. It was 2.5 hours of staring at photos and dull exposition. Could not have cared less for the characters or the plot. The soundtrack was also disappointing.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) - 6/10

"2 Girls One Cup"? Love that movie! If they had a better script and higher productions values I would have appreciated it a bit more though.
Not quite as good as "Citizen Cane", but close. My only complaint is that it had too many explosions and not enough car chase scenes.
Not many people know this, but it's actually directed by "Uwe Boll". He has a commentary on the 2 disc Blu-Ray version, but it's now out of print.

BTW the book is more historically accurate, but this always seems to be the case.

Is that the one starring Ron Jeremy?

No, I haven't seen that one yet since I find his acting skills sub-par. He's better suited to romantic comedies.
He was especially good in "You've got Mail" and "Larry Crowne".

I'm no longer googling movies I see mentioned in this thread.

Sorry.

Didn't see that one coming since I mentioned it as an example of a terrible experience.  I really am sorry, I'm pretty sure the less views that video has the better our world will be.

I was only joking. I didn't watch the movie, but instead read the Wikipedia page. Unfortunately, the summary on the Wikipedia page is enough to make my stomach turn.

I made the same mistake when someone mentioned that film Caterpillar.....or was it Centipede....?  There are two of them - and believe me, it ain't like Doublemint Gum.  Don't go there...not even the Wiki as it's enough to do the job.

Re-watched a fascinating documentary on Joseph Campbell last night.  This one a short film on his life....can't recall the title.  If anyone has never seen The Power of Myth, a mini-series on Campbell's lifes work (the title pretty much explains what that is) in the form of interviews by Bill Moyers - that's a must see for anyone with any interest in this life we live.
