https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8781414/I think the question at the time is if the actors with disabilities were shown in a good light or not. I think they were.
Then of course David F. Friedman and H.G.L. made their version in Bakersfield California.

The movie I referred to has nothing to do with that one, certainly not a remake of any sort
Dragon's Back Race - 7/10
Documentary about a 5 day, 200 miles race across mountains in Wales. Supposedly one of the toughest mountain courses there is, but not sure. Surprised to learn how much faster people have been able to do it since they filmed this movie in 2012.
BTW don't you hate it when they do EXTREME close-ups of people's faces in documentaries? Why do they do this?!
Rx Run - 9/10
Short documentary about people diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety that start a running course and end with a 5k marathon.
Really made me want to start running.
Contact - 10/10
I thought it was impossible, but this is a movie that seems to get better and better after even a dozen viewings.
When I first saw it I think I only gave it a 6/10. I've now seen it maybe 50 times at least.
I actually think Jodie Foster's acting in this was good enough for an Oscar.
There's even some unintentional (?) comedy in here that always makes me laugh.
Most specifically the dialogue from the Christian Coalition group.
My only problem with it is the final scenes (which I won't ruin). It's kind of not more than a light show and has some pretty bad CGI.
It's too bad Jodie and Matthew McConaughey didn't team up for some sort of sequel or similar movie.
I almost wish she would have been in "Interstellar".
Also, all the small roles are near perfect. Everyone from James Woods, David Morse, Tom Skerritt etc.
This one has a really good cast.
PS After watching this again a few days ago I'd probably put this in my top 5 all time movies list (along with "Interstellar"!).
But was it underrated? Quite popular I believe? I absolutely loved it the first time and it wasn´t bad on the rerun som years ago eitherAbsolutely underrated film. If you're at all interested in space, science, or "life out there," this is a huge recommend.
Yeah, definitely not "underrated". 248,000 votes on IMDB at 7.4 rating. Seems correct, I like the movie as well. But was it underrated? Quite popular I believe? I absolutely loved it the first time and it wasn´t bad on the rerun som years ago either
