Sasuke World Cup 2024 - 7/10

Sasuke is the Japanese version of Ninja Warrior. The US version is one of my favorite shows.
This one is a competition between teams from all over there world.
There is team USA, Japan, Australia, Germany and France.
You'll find some of the best players from the USA that have years of experience.

This didn't have any subtitles, so it was impossible for me to understand the commentary or know what was going on.
The courses are a lot different than the USA ones. There is a lot more obstacles that can knock you off (like on Wipeout).
I have to admit that some of the fails on level 1 are unintentionally funny.

The obstacles on the 3rd stage are some of the hardest ones i've seen. Not as bad as some of those from Netflix's Ultimate Beastmaster though.
One of them has them hanging from a moving ledge with only a tiny area for your fingers to hold onto it.
You then need to jump in the opposite direction to grab the next ledge.
The Final Event is much worse and some can do it in under a minute. How is this even possible?!

The reactions after every fail were kind of weird. They show the reactions from all teams usually. None from the audience.
I think they did this because of Covid restrictions when they filmed it.
Somehow they filmed the entire show in 1 day.

Unfortunately two episodes is not enough. They cut out some of the runs from the Americans.

American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs Ninja (2018) - 9/10 (currently on Netflix)

This is a version of the main show that has each team member run against each other at the same time.
The first team to get 3 wins will advance. Sometimes they do relay races.
The show is much faster paced than the original and there are shorter player intros.
For me there was a lot of suspense during the end. Lots of surprise wins!

Know what's really unfortunate? It's impossible to watch all seasons. Seasons 1-9 are not to be found anywhere online.
There was some "scandal" with a player in the show so that's probably why they made them impossible to find.
Why can't they just cut out his scenes? Why ruin it for everyone else?
At the very least they should be released on the Internet Archive or something.

I've said this before, but if I was a billionaire i'd fund another season of Ultimate Beastmaster. It's far better, but the commentators were terrible.

Adolescence - 7/10

This is a recent Netflix release. Everywhere I went online, there were people raving about how good this movie is. Was it perhaps just some marketing campaign? Not likely. It's definitely a film that deserves some attention, especially from parents. One could say it should be a wake up call to parents of younger teens who have unfiltered access to a cell phone, the internet and social media.

This one is about a 13 year old boy who is arrested and accused of murdering a female classmate in a knife attack. It's not based on any single event, but many different similar ones that have happened in the UK.

There is some stuff in here about how supposedly kids are being influenced online by people like Andrew Tate about some sort of "incel culture" or just toxic masculinity in general. I actually had no idea what that incel thing was when I saw it in the movie. This influence is supposedly what led to many homicides by younger people in the UK. In the movie, the kid also seemed to have severe anger issues and couldn't control it. There is also some things in here about online bullying from other students.

The series has each episode done in one shot. I don't know if this is true. This alone is really impressive, but I can't say it adds much to the movie. It makes some parts drag on more than they should.

The best thing about this series by far is the amazing acting, especially from the 13 year old kid. Everyone was perfect. There is no bad acting IMO.

Unfortunately, it's not what I would call entertainment. It's not very fun to watch or very educational That's fine. It's not very in depth about it's subject matter. It doesn't tell me much about it at all. If I wanted to know more about this type of toxic culture i'd have to just read about it online. It gave me a general idea at least.
I actually find it hard to believe that a 13 year old would even pay attention to that sort of thing or be influenced by it. Of course I am not a parent.

It's basically like going through a traumatic experience with someone for 4 episodes. Due to the way they filmed it, you feel like you're experience what the parents are going through. Most movies are not like that these days. One that comes to mind is something like "Come and See". Of course that's a way harder film to watch.

Owen Cooper's acting was absolutely phenomenal, especially for a young man working with one-shot takes.

Thanks for the impressions.
The preview I saw made it seem like junk. I think your review confirms my suspicions though I wasnt aware that each episode was filmed in one take which is impressive though I doubt Ill bother to view anyway.

No Other Land - 10/10

This won the award for best documentary at the Oscars.
Every American should see it. It should be on every streaming service for rental or purchase.
I want to see it at every Wal-Mart for sale! At the very least, maybe a Criterion Collection release some day.
Instead, no streaming service has picked this up yet and no DVDs are to be found. What are they scared of?
Uncle Sam apparently doesn't want you to see this and is probably actively trying to suppress the release of this film.
Luckily it's still playing in some USA theaters! There was actually a mayor who tried to close down a theater for playing this LOL

I cant stand shaky hand-held cameras as I get motion sickness easily so I havent watched. The movie was at my local cinema for about only 2days which is uncommon. I did hear about a theater in FL losing its gov funding over screening the movie - crazy!

============

Black Mirror S7
Im only 3episodes in but its meh af. Worst season so far but maybe later episodes in S7 will prevail. The concepts thus far have been pretty unspectacular and the story telling mostly unengaging. I dont want to say too much because spoilers but just want to convey a general ho-hum compared to the best episodes of seasons past. Eh, a greatest hits collection of Black Mirror is what Id recommend anyway…

Tangent: imo science fiction > fantasy. Sci-Fi is meant to be considered plausible so is easier to relate and sink into the story.

edit: for slight drunk posting
I dont consider sci-fi and fantasy to be very different. The genres overlap and is often just a matter of aesthetics. I think a good example would be Shyamalan’s “The Village” (2004). The first 3/4 of the film would be considered fantasy but then the last quarter is revealed to be sci-fi. Sci-fi & fantasy live in the same village.

Lastnight I think I was just reminiscing on sci-fi as one often does when theyve had too much gin.

======

edit2:
Black Mirror (S7)
-Episodes 1-3: 👎 (meh to irritating)
-Episode 4: 👍 (classic BM style, bonus for recalling the Bandersnatch special)
- Episode 5: 👍 👍 (slow drama, heartfelt)
- Episode 6: 👍 👍(USS Calister part2! Not as nice as the original but it was great to see that story revived and resolved.)

Kill the Messenger - 9/10

Lots of good actors in this one! Jeremy Renner etc
Nobody has probably heard of this one. I sure didn't.

From the Amazon description from where I rented it:

"An investigative reporter (Jeremy Renner) attempts to prove the CIA used cocaine profits to fund the Contra rebels in this compelling political drama, based on a true story."

My comments:

This is no longer a controversial thing, but it's all based on a true story by journalist Gary Webb. There is also a book he wrote on the subject.
After his articles, some corporate media newspapers tried to discredit him. It's almost as if some outside source was trying to control the narrative. We all know who that probably was. He should have been considered some sort of hero, but instead seemed to be treated like an enemy.
There was also a congressional hearing on the subject. I was probably 8 or 9 when that happened!

All I will say though is that these days it seems rare for a journalist to have this kind of courage to uncover something this dangerous. He really put his life (and career) at risk. That is why I think there are subjects out there that are "untouchable". If you get too close to the truth on some alternative theories of "Official Statements" (as a journalist) you could be at risk.

Up until a few years ago I blindly believed in the "Official Statements" for everything. Now I do my own research, which is very very time consuming. Sometimes it's easy to fall for non-sense ideas if you're not careful. Sadly, some of the truth is covered up by corporate media (both CNN and FOX too). Even wikipedia is no longer a trust worthy source of information. Then there are of course very well planned cover-ups for everything.

If you want to research this movie further, there is another amazing documentary out there. It's all researched with news reports and old newspaper articles. There are only a few parts in it that are general opinions I don't really agree with. So, this story is connected to the above movie.

Trailer:

American Re-Made - The Real Story of Barry Seal - 10/10

He was a pilot involved with the above operations...supposedly.
Not sure why they flagged it for mature audiences. Requires login.
It's a 4 hour documentary, but goes by fast.
Surely everyone remembers "American Made" with Tom Cruise?

I knew about that one.

It was good but the real story is a 1000x more entertaining.

Karma 9/10

Caught this one on Netflix.

A nice whirlwind of 6 characters lives that converge at a single point.

Very entertaining Drama thriller.

The gorge 2025 Apple tv

Rear window meets the wall meets the Great Wall. Aliens or plant zombies, whatever, must be kept where they come from. Towers are built, defenses hardened, snipers hired. His and her working together from afar. Cool if cheesy executed. 3.75 puffs for the visuals.

JFK (1991) - 7/10

This is an Oliver Stone film that won a lot of awards. It's very very outdated. If you were seeking the truth about who the gunmen were and who ran the operation, you would not be finding your answers here. I do think the WHY element was preserved in here. Some have claimed there is a ton of disinformation in the movie itself. I think so. They left out a ton of details. I think most everyone now knows that the lone gunmen thing is non-sense and Oswald didn't pull the trigger.
Why do you think he was supposedly flown to the Soviet Union as a fake defector and portrayed to be a communist?

The movie itself is pretty good, but some bad acting at times. While watching it, you feel as if the creators are trying to find the truth, while covering up certain elements. Very strange.

If you've never done any research on the subject and want to go down that rabbit hole, i'll suggest a few things to research. I'll leave my opinions out of this as much as I can. This is not about politics. I just love to do my own research on everything and not base it on news or "official statements".

1) The Zapruder film may be altered and leaving out the final stop. Some believe the final shot didn't come from the Grassy Knoll.

2) After this happened, a man was reported to arrive back to a car dealership where he worked. He was reported to have mud all over his feet, feeling sick and later throwing up. He reportedly fled from the sewers. You probably can't find this info on the web easily. They did find out who it was.

3) Why? Look into rouge operatives and those who could profit off perpetual warfare and making 100 billion + off it.
A good supplement to this research is Smedley Butler's "War is a Racket" (he was a General). Most Americans probably don't know who he is.

4) JFK was planning to "fracture" the CIA and stop the secret operations in LAOS etc. I'm sure we all know what happened after he died?

5) "Deception and Disinformation". Some events of this and 9/11 are eerily similar, but lets not go there. I'll refer you to #3.

6) They seemed to want to destroy Jim Garrison's credibility with the help of controlled news media (at the time). A sign he was too close to the truth?

7) Watch the death bed confessions of E. Howard Hunt. These interviews were on the news.

8) There are of course some possible connections to Watergate. Not touching that one lol

There are a lot more contextual details in the 2022 follow up, “JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass”. Really eye opening!

JFK Declassified: The New Files (2017) - 1/10

The most disgusting and offensive documentary i've seen in awhile. Even to this day they are making fake documentaries to hide the truth, but they are 1000% disinformation. They go as far as claiming Oswald was possibly a double agent working for Castro and the KGB (!!!). The lethal shot came from the front (left side of head), which is something they tried to cover up. Supposedly it came from below a sewer grate near the grassy knoll (from the front or side of the car). Oswald's hiding spot (not that he was there) was way behind the car in a huge building.

They even go as far as to claim that the assassination was organized by either Cuba or the KGB and that's why they covered it up (!!). They didn't want to start a nuclear war. They are picking and choosing details at random to lie to Americans and not actually find the truth. Popular Mechanics did this too when they made 9/11 documentaries as a form of cover up. Those videos were debunked by "Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth" (these guys are amazing).

PS This is free on Prime if you want a laugh at how disgusting people can be. I tried to watch it with an open mind.

Dark Alliance - 9/10

(Free on Amazon Prime...I was surprised)

OMG. I guess this proves that freedom of speech still exists in the USA, just not as much through corporate media.
This links together the people responsible for the JFK assassination.
Some of the people mentioned in this documentary have links to funding the Nazi's before and during the war.
Plus they were involved in arming rebel groups to overthrow Castro.
I'm sure many know that Castro's girlfriend was a spy and was sent to kill him, but the pills melted.
In this video they claim that Oswald could have been sent by the FBI to spy on CIA activities. Not likely, but why was he killed?
Oswald's claims of being made a patsy are probably correct.

This video below is what made me start to question everything. At first it made me angry, but then I fact checked everything and was shocked when I found the truth.
You'd have to spend hundreds of hours to fact check it all and I did. Some of it might be non-sense.
It's a pretty mind blowing documentary. One of the best i've seen.

It describes in detail what happened on the day of the assassination and who was involved. Not the KGB! Is it the truth? Most likely.
Most don't know that all the security personnel was not there. One was even apparently told to stop following the car (it shows him on video in like disbelief).
There is also a guy faking a seizure or something as a distraction, then people with black umbrellas used as a signal. It's sickening.
In the video below they name a total of 8 people as gunmen (!). They even list the names.

Calling Out Bravo 7 - 10/10

A must see supposedly made by Firefighters about 9/11 and WTC7. Most of it is all based on science. It talks about fire physics, building designs and how no high rise steel building has ever fully collapsed due to fire. It doesn't burn hot enough to melt steel. The focus of this is on WTC7 specifically. They would have been able to stop the fires most likely, but it had collapsed. No airplane had hit WTC7! In the videos you can see a small fire on some floors. There is actually radio communications from the firefighters.

This documentary says there is 118 documented testimonies pointing towards a controlled demolition. Most of those clips were suppressed until some court order. Some firefighters saw molten steel leaking from the buildings. Plus there is photo evidence of nano-thermite. Why would they be so quick to ship the evidence away?
There is also another building destroyed, which is basically off limits to even the truth movement. The clip is nearly impossible to find on Youtube. CNN is one who actually broadcast it. Crater. All i'm saying.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga - 8.5/10

Deserves to be seen in theaters and not on my 50" TV in 1080P! Would have been amazing in Imax.

JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass - 10/10

This is the documentary from Oliver Stone and is a follow up from his JFK film I guess.
Probably one of the best documentaries i've seen in quite a long time. It requires some patience and maybe some interest in the subject.
It's very in depth, but of course a lot of details they left out.
I actually think it's better than "JFK".

Here is a quote I came across recently. I swear I saw a similar one from Hitler, but can't remember it.

"The individual is handicapped by coming face-to-face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists."
-- J. Edgar Hoover

Oklahoma City Bombing: American Terror - 6/10

Skip it. It's OK though. Recent Netflix release.
