Rank your Grados

Of the ones I've spent extended times listening too:

RS-1
RS-2
SR-225
MS-1
SR-80
SR-125
SR-60
SR-325i*

*: The 325i just didn't do it for me. The treble (paired with an Entech 203.2/Gilmore Lite) was so intense that it quite literally caused me pain. The detail and presentation was nice, but I could never stand the phones.

Coloration of RS1, I can not take a breath with them, just to much of everything. I found them muddy ( kind of ) sounding compare to SR225, not talking about RS2 or GS1.
SR225 are less detailed, but that's fine with me. They have same great RS1 punch and really warm, velvet sound. I can say that they are pretty close to RS1, but still having own sound signature, which I like more. Simply great with ROCK music and other styles as well.
I have got my ORGASMUS when I received SR225 and didn't get anything from RS1.
After I have upgraded to RS2, SR225 was sold and I still miss them. Same story with RS2 when I was hunting on MS PRO.
As for RS1 and MS PRO, I do not miss a single minute with them, that's why I make my list like it is.

First LOVE is forever, I guess...

I also think the SR225's are virtually identical to the RS-1's - sound just as good... may be a bit less bright (unless the RS-1's have reversed bowl pads). But... anyone can be confident that they've got "virtual RS-1 quality sound" with the SR225's.

I noticed that most ranked the 225s way ahead of the SR60s - my experience was that they might have slightly better detail but I just did'nt hear enough difference (same pads) to justify the price difference. This is a great thread - keep it up.

Which pads were these? I wouldn't expect too much of a difference when using comfies

1. SR325i
2. SR225
3. MS1
4. SR80

As expected I guess. I should note that I was using comfies with the MS1 and bowls with the other headphones. I prefer bowls overall, and I have used 414, flats, and modded comfies.

The main reason the SR325i is above the SR225 is it's ability to play acoustic guitar. I was just floored by the energy and detail. It couldn't do classical, but there are always Senns for that.

I only own the RS-1 but I've heard everything "above" it in the product line and the HF-1:

1. RS-1
2. HP-1000
3. PS-1
4. GS-1000
5. HF-1

EDIT: I wouldn't take this as a recommendation -- most people will not agree with me. For whatever reason, my ears amplify the faults of the HP-1000 and PS-1 and attenuate those of the RS-1. I also find myself tapping my foot to anything and everything with the RS-1 whereas this isn't as true with the others.

1. 225
2. 80
These are the only ones I have owned so I can only honestly comment on these. I liked the more openness of the 80's but that also brought out brightness which was hard to listen to with some recordings. The 225's get my foot stomping just about everytime though .The 80's did not do that too much. The 80's also lacked the bass that I love so much with the 225's.
