I'm thinking of ordering the dx120, but there's some reviews out there about software malfunctions along with battery issues in about a year of use. Is this true?
Can not comment on dx120. But ibasso are pretty good with their updates. Bugs get fixed and sound quality always goes up. With my 220, used to have some iasues with software but aince last update all seem fixed. Can not remember to have expierienced andy bugs.
Id say if there are any that are not there because of third party apps they will always het fixed.

1 Cowon J3 - for me still the best. great EQ, fast user interface (I'm surprised how fast it is in coparison with todays DAPs) , nice pocketable design
2 Cowon Plenue D - great allrounder in tiny package, sluggish interface, but I can live with it, great battery life
3 Cowon iAudio 7 - well, it's just my sentiment for this small player, because it was my first true dap :)

Well, I don't change hardware so much
I owned few more daps in the past, but I can't remember correctly the types and so on.
