MQA bug fixes in this release apparently, but it looks to have broken it. Mines only displaying 96k when the mqa album decodes to 192/24 and using UAPP it says it's decoding to 384/24 yet Hiby shoes 96/24. @Joe Bloggs can you report this as its not right.

MQA files I own play at 24/384. My R5 has the latest firmware and the HiBy music app is also the latest version.

WiFi also seems worse than normal to since update It's never been stellar but it's struggling to connect to anything and I have an access point very close. No other devices have a problem. I do think the WiFi on mine is suspect

Here it is playing the mqa 192/24 version in UAPP and see what Hiby says its playing at. Can't trust it at all to say what its playing.

I thought i had an issue ... the MQA unfolding will not work if there's nothing plugged into the headphone port ... if you plug in it jumps to expected unfolding levels but with nothing plugged in it drops to low

Tidal won't even play past 96/24 for the same album. Tidal has two mqa versions one at 96/24 and one at 192/24. Both versions play at 96/24 and the led on power button confirms the same. Something is not right with this update.

Ok plugged them in and yes your right. That's really strange. But it still doesn't differentiate the 192/24 and 96/24 versions for some reason. UAPP sees them as one it the other. I do wish it had a mqa authentication light or something like most mqa enabled do. I am not convinced Hiby is doing the right thing at all upsampling to max rate of the DAC when the master rate is much lower.

in terms of sound is there big difference between this and the r6 non pro?

I don't have a non-Pro R6 but be aware that it has a high output impedance (10 ohms) so it might be a problem with some IEMs. The R5 is <1 ohm which is much better.

I had the Hiby R6 (non pro) from Amazon. I sent it back because I thought my Samsung S9 plus sounded as good and the Bluetooth was very poor. My Hiby R5 sounds better than the R6.....IMHO.

I’m very impressed with the R5, my first HiBy product. I love the form factor, the aesthetics, and the overall performance. It doesn’t sound as clean as my reference dap, the AK240 Stainless Steel, but it sure gets close in many areas at a tenth of the price I paid for it!

i got the SR15 but battery life just is too short it was not cheap so thats what is holding me back from buying the r5 or r6

On my AK240SS, I turned the display brightness all the way down and used one of the dark themes to get some extra battery time. BT and wifi off as much as possible, too.

Tried to turn my dap on around 2 pm today. It's been stuck on the power up screen now for 7 hours. It's completely unresponsive.
This is my 2nd unit - both the previous and current units have major power button issues. It's extremely difficult to depress the button at all times. It either won't invert, or sticks while in the inverted position - mostly the former. This occurs every time I go to use it. It can take up to several minutes for it to loosen up. Then when I go to use it again, it does the same thing, every time. Has anyone else observed this same problem with their unit? The button is extremely bad, so I'm curious if this is common, or perhaps the store I purchased it from was provided a bad batch. How do I perform a hard - factory reset with the R5? My R3 Pro worked like a champ, so I don't know if what I'm experiencing is random, or if the R5 suffers from poor build quality / quality control issues.
