This is where it's stuck. Can I even perform a reset from this position??

Tried to turn my dap on around 2 pm today. It's been stuck on the power up screen now for 7 hours. It's completely unresponsive.
This is my 2nd unit - both the previous and current units have major power button issues. It's extremely difficult to depress the button at all times. It either won't invert, or sticks while in the inverted position - mostly the former. This occurs every time I go to use it. It can take up to several minutes for it to loosen up. Then when I go to use it again, it does the same thing, every time. Has anyone else observed this same problem with their unit? The button is extremely bad, so I'm curious if this is common, or perhaps the store I purchased it from was provided a bad batch. How do I perform a hard - factory reset with the R5? My R3 Pro worked like a champ, so I don't know if what I'm experiencing is random, or if the R5 suffers from poor build quality / quality control issues.
Not sure, but I’ve had no hardware issues since I bought the R5 a few months ago and am still thoroughly enjoying it. Since last update I’ve gotten that start screen hanging a few times and it was fine after a restart. Also, WiFi does seem worse after last update, Tidal has been buffering when it never did before. and Tidal songs in UAPP have stopped a few times when they never did before. Definitely a bummer.

I haven't updated to the current firmware. Only had the unit for about 3 weeks.

Just keep the power button depressed until it powers down. And update the f - - ker, HiBy will correct any real problematic issues before long via firmware update.

Sorry for your troubles ... I’ve never had this issue with mine. I use it everyday for several hours, and other than some minor software glitches, it’s been great. Third time’s a charm.

I just saw a second hand R5 for around 230$ with 1 year warranty left. Would this be a good buy? I'm currently using Note 10+ with the WH-1000XM4 Using tidal or UAPP flacs

The lowest price on a renewed one is $299, so $230 is a good price. Regarding the warranty, you may want to call Musicteck and ask whether the warranty transfers to you, many companies do not transfer warranties, especially on lower priced gear.

Yep, you nailed it. I wasn't holding the power button down long enough. Took a while, but it worked. Thank you

Generally can't fault this little machine. Form factor 10/10 (exactly the same size as the FiiO M9). I did not like the phone type size of my two iBasso DX160s and my Hiby R6 was big clunky, too heavy (stainless steel), too big.
My only problem is that Tidal is very seamless in operation, Amazon HD can take a second or two sometimes to seem to be ready to play and on a bad day a bit longer. Are Hiby aware of the slight Amazon glitch?

Would be sensible to upgrade. If the upgrade fixes bugs, the hanging while starting will probably have been fixed. It is really simple to upgrade online, just keep your eyes closed whilst it is happening.

I agree that you should always be updating the firmware, but this occasional hanging at startup did just start for me after the most recent update. Still, other issues seem to have been resolved. I’m not sorry I updated. Too be honest, I’ve been having recent issues with my WiFi network so I can’t tell at this point if the increase in buffering is an issue with the R5 or my network.

I've never had that problem with either of my 2 units.

Likely more of an Amazon HD issue than a Hiby issue. Qobuz also has issues on the Hiby and Android in general. Tidal apparently has some top notch Android engineers.
